Dilemma here. I have an abundance of Sitka OC. However, I want a set that will cover all areas. Fall antelope, turkey, rifle deer, mule deer, bear, bow hunting. The OC doesn’t seem to fit the bill to hit all of these. So, I’ve narrowed it to sub alpine vs fusion. Anyone have suggestions on this or am I over thinking it? Thanks

I went through this dilemma myself. I like the Kryptek patterns but for where I hunt I always found the Highlander pattern to brown and the Mandrake pattern to green. To answer your question directly without digging into it, IMO Kryptek Altitude is one of the better all-around patterns for my area with a good mixture of greens, browns, and greys. The problem is Kryptek only sells it in their high-end clothing line potentially limiting the number of pieces you can buy. If you need something with more Tan, I think the KUIU Verde line also works generally well and is much more affordable.

However, I will caution you against trying to find one pattern that works everywhere. The Army tried to adopt a universal camo pattern (UCP) and it ended up working poorly in most environments except gravel and rocky areas because the colors blended to make it bright grey. In some ways, the Sitka OC reminds me of UCP with its general shading.

With what you've told us, I would consider which of my hunts requires camo for success and use that to determine which pattern to buy. I usually hunt rifle and, in those rare moments when I'm honest with myself, find that I could have worn just about anything and still have been as successful.

I think camo has slightly less effect then toothpaste brand on your hunting success. If you have bunch of sitka your good to go with some quality clothing.

Out West, I haven't noticed that wearing camo was even needed, even for turkeys. Down here, I'm wearing Mossy Oak new Bottomland while turkey hunting.
