best 22lr off the shelf?

Why do you suppose that is? Maybe the accurate semi 22s are expensive, I have a few higher end guns like volquartsen and tacsol, they are as accurate as anything I’ve shot but they were expensive.

The semi autos I saw had a lot more issues with reliability than the bolt guns.

I’ve never been around a Volquartsen or Tacsol so I can comment on those.

But the normal 10/22 with a stock/chassis, heavy barrel and a trigger group still had reliability issues.

For the size of the targets in a match, I’d rather have a 2 MOA rifle that goes bang every time than a .5 MOA gun with issues.

Nice, I suppose it’s a lot easier to get a bolt gun shooting than a semi auto, the new riger 10/22s aren’t that great anymore so that makes sense.

Instead of buying and moding, the best move is straight to an Anschutz 54. I've never had one or shot one that wasn't an absolute drill with a variety of quality 22LR ammo.

Best you can buy is going to be an MPA factory (Vudoo) or DI precision/etc custom

Best real “factory” rifle goes to the cz457. I started off with a tikka and shot it for a year in NRL/PRS and it’s just not reliable ejecting. And as far as I can tell no way to fix. Accuracy is totally adequate, but the ejection costs points in every match.

The CZ is a decent base for an open rifle if you decide to go that way later. Pre-fits are easy on a CZ, tikka not so much.

NRL/PRS22 is a barricade benchrest game so you really want to be able to balance the gun, and 25”-26” barrels are the way in open.

My kid is shooting a 25” DI/muellerworks Vudoo and I’m shooting a CZ/26” Lilja. Both in KRG bravo (open class)

long story short i built a 1022,with all kidd parts its accurate but not good enough for what i want to do. my question is whats the best bolt gun i can buy and mod to do some serious shooting.please only comment if you have experience if you shoot nrl22 that would help.
