Berger Elite hunter

Anyone have experience with these? How did they perform on animals? Specifically 140 grain in 6.5CM? I found some and since accubonds are rare as hens teeth these days I was thinking about giving them a try.

Shot two mulies with 140 elite hunters, sub 300 yards, 2650 muzzle velocity. Small hole in and blew up

I shot this buck at 400 with them out of a 6.5x284. First shot was a touch high. He rolled about 20 yards down the hill and hit his feet and was running. I put 2 more in him on the run, one of which I didn't lead him enough. The 3rd one put him down for good.

Impact velocity would have been around 2550ish.

I've been happy with the Elite Hunter in several different calibers, including the 6.5mm in a 260rem. Shot several smaller black bear and blacktails with them. Biggest thing with the Bergers is to respect their limitations, shoot for soft tissue and dont expect them to break bone.

Just switch to those and have 2 bucks in 2 shots. 1 at 200 that never got out of his bed and another at 425 that went about 25 yards. Typical Berger...all energy was delivered inside the animal. Overkill is better than underkill.

They are awesome accounted for 5 animals all didn’t go any where this bear was the farthest out at 535 went 10 yards and done 6.5 cm

They are about as 180 degree different you can get from an Accubond. Not bonded, no polymer tip, frag on impact and very fragile. They just kill in a different way so aim for lungs and avoid bones. The 140 will do well in slower methodical cartridge's like a 7mm-08 or a 135 grain in the 6.5 Creed. If you're going 280, 280 AI or 7 mag shoot the 175 Elite Hunter, although those are as hard to find as Accubond 160's. I've noticed plenty of Hornady eld-x bullets available and while I've only shot the 200 grain and 150 grain out of a 300 wm and 7mm-08 They did work well on mule deer and elk.

what was the shot location on this if you don’t mind me asking. I’m about to start purchasing a bunch of different hunting rounds to see what my new 6.5CM likes. The Bergers are on my list of rounds to purchase

1 bear, 1 whitetail, 3 mule deer, and 1 elk. All with a 25 cal 133 berger elite hunter shots ranging from 120 to 595 (elk). Every deer dropped at the first shot. Bear made it 20 yards, elk wobbled 10 yards. All innards were destroyed including the elk at 595. I would use with confidence.

What caliber of quarter bore are you shooting? 600 yards on an elk is impressive
