What part of the country are you in? There has been zero new stuff here in SE Texas that Ive been able to find and Im looking.

Im more interested in the 6.5 projectile they have coming out in this line for my Grendel but that 62gr would be great for my bolt gun if it shoots.

Yes the 100 grain ELD VT for the Grendel is awesome. The Hornady site has the 6.5 Grendel with the new 100 gr ELD VT bullet as a future ammo selection. Just to get and idea on performance, I took provided G7 info and did some projections out of a 24” barrel. I was thinking you should be able to push to or real close to 2,900 fps.

At sea level with a 10 mph crosswind , 100 yd zero, 8.08 mils drop and 2.0 mils drift at 1,000 yds. Trans sonic (1,234 fps) at 1,150 yds , Supersonic to 1,250 yds. That is dam respectable. It will stabilize in a 1-8 twist. This would breathe some new life into the Grendel. Giving it drift performance equal or better to a 6 ARC shooting 105 or 109 RDF’s.

I have not seen any ammo, just reports on some early birds that 22 ARC ammo is being shipped from Hornady. I don’t think it has trickled into the retail stocks and bricks stores as of yet. Like you I am waiting for these 6.5 mm 100 gr bullets to become available. I’d pick up a 100 and see if they can shoot.

I've been off the deep end for a while. Both of my girls have custom actions in krg bravo with multiple 6mm and .22 cal barrels to pick from. They are spoiled.

There is nothing better than hunting and shooting as a family.

I’ve got Savage 110 in 280ai that needs a new barrel. I was thinking of the 6mm-06. I have lots of 280 and 25-06 brass. I have 108 ELD-M’s for my arc. Is there a big enough difference between the 6mm-06 and the 6CM that I should go that route instead?

Here's a comparison of my 6mms with 115gr bullets, too end loads:

26" 6gt 36.7gr H4350, velocity: 2940fps
24" 6cm 43.0gr rl16, velocity 3190fps
24" 6saum 66gr N570, velocity 3460fps.

To get 10% more velocity for gt, you have to use 20% more powder, to get 20% more velocity than gt, you gotta run near double. I think the creed is best balance. However I'm gonna be dumb and make a wildcat by sinking a 6cm reamer. 0.090-0.100 deep and fireform 7saw or 308 palma brass in it. Should be near 243ai case capacity but with excellent brass.

On heavies....I'd bet 300fps. Light bullets will not tolerate a 7 or 8 twist. It'll cost you 15grs of powder and shorten life....but it'll run with the 6um.

Have you done the math on the case head/web? You may get short brass life back at the .100 line.

Are you inferring lack of base sizing will prematurely prevent proper chambering? The 7saw is alpha ocd, extremely hard at the web area. Lapua 308 palma is noticeably softer. My reamer sunk 0.100 deaper will make the 200 line 0.472. My RCBS matchmaster 65cm die sizes very tight at base, and if the very bottom of case starts giving issues, the new Cortina small base mandrel die will get the bottom I cannot reach with full length creed die. I also have a Redding typeS FL bushing die that sizes on the loose side at the web area. Few different plans of attack depending on what the rifle/brass tells me.

@Nbowlin has already done one very similar, he set the 25 creed chamber to 260 headspace for even more capacity, however I'm going a bit shorter to keep all the neck.

I chose 6 ARC because it fits in the AR15 platform. Not so for the lower recoil, but the length of pull adjustments are simple with a collapsible stock on the AR platform. You could build an AR10 in 6CM, but AR15s are far lighter and more compact.

I built a 6 ARC with an 18" Ballistic Advantage barrel and a Sandman-S suppressor on it and the recoil is extremely pleasant. It is gassy and the factory ammo is dirty. I handload so hopefully CFE 223 or one of the other powders guys are getting good results will help the gun run cleaner. Ultrasonic cleaner for my suppressor is probably in my future anyway.

No experience with the other 6mm cartridges. Based on the comments, they all sound like great options. I'd like to re-barrel my Thompson Center Icon that's currently chambered in 30 T/C (the parent case for the Creedmoor) in 6 CM.

For my purposes the 6 creed has been doing everything I’ve asked of it in spades. Super easy to work up a load for. I much prefer it over a 243.
I’d like to play with a 6BR one day I always thought it was a great balance in a cartridge of speed and efficiency.

From a guy who's had a lot 6s, br, bra, gt, X47, and creed. I truly feel the sweet spot is the bra or dasher. Gives 100fps more velocity than br with only 1-1.5gr more powder. Eliminates the need to trim as frequently, and I think the lil extra length to the shoulder helps them feed a bit better than the BR. Lapua is def the way to go brass wise, as alpha still hasn't quite figured it out. Lapua just announced GT brass for 2024, so that's an option. GT def is easier to feed VS a br variant in my experience and does offer a 200fps advantage of the BR, with another 3-3.5gr more powder. All these 6s shoot great.

Ive currently got a solus action trying to decide on a barrel. I currently shoot 243 for predators, load 75-90gr projectiles for it and have plenty of brass. Is there much to gain in accuracy and barrel life going to something like 6gt? Would it be worth having to invest in dies and brass?

I pull my 6gt match barrels at 2500 rounds, running 108-110gr bullets at 2920 with 36.5+- gr H4350, they're still shooting well under moa, I just don't want em to take a dump in the middle of a 2 day match. Ive run one to 2800. You can run 105 over 3000fps but it's the upper psi node. I've had excellent luck accuracy wise with the gt. For a higher performance hunting round, the 44gr capacity is a bit lacking, but for targets and banging steel, they're great. My 24" hunting barrel is running 112 match burners at 2910 and shoot pretty consistent 1/3 moa 5 shot groups. This is a terminally capable load out to 900y.
