Early 90’s era Ruger Hawkeye. 3rd barrel, formerly 30-06. 25 5/16” finished length, 10t 270.

New barrels I have pretty much just started shooting w/o any real special break in process. Don’t recall any issues. Contemplating the whole shoot/clean/repeat. Thoughts or suggestions?

I have a couple Bartlein barrels, and Frank recomends a barrel break in process. Will you ever notice a difference....no. His theory however is to smooth the tooling marks left from the finish reamer while cutting your chamber. Moreover, the tools marks left will hold jacket material and thus "foul" the barrel quicker. In my opinion, do what makes you feel good. There doesn't appear to be any evidence to suggest the shoot, clean, shoot clean method has any impact on accuracy that most shooters or rifles will be able to discern. I would just get 100-150 rounds through the barrel to allow the velocity curve to flatten.
