just a quick aside from the topic because its obvious this thread is getting read by the people i want answers from, how do you guys gain that awesome depth to your photos? is it the camera, editing, the settings?
I agree if you could post what camera you are using and possibly the scope this would be an educational thread as well as getting to see some amazing pics. I think shanevg is using a dslr for some of those shots, those are pretty clear. Also Aron what camera are you using? It looks like maybe some pics are from different ones as there are some that are very clear and vibrant.
I shoot with a Canon 30D and a 50mm F1.8 lens. I also have a 70-300 F4.0 that i use for some of my zoom shots (like my elk shot.) The depth of field is all achieved with a low apperature or F-stop which gives the blurred background effect. Ultimately, it just comes down to sacrificing the wait to pack a good camera/lens along.
I believe Aron is packing a Sony NEX camera which is a heck of a lot cheaper and arguably produces the same results. (Depends who you are talking too and how much they have invested in their DSLR setup.)
My season was over for big-game the 18th of this month, I was tired and ready for it. A few days rest and looking at these pics..........when can I start again???
Another one from August I forgot about. This was my wife's first backpacking trip and being that it was a 5.3 mile walk straight up and gaining 4,100 feet in elevation, she was wondering why anyone would do this to themselves until she saw this... The pic doesn't do it justice. This same view could be had for 360 degrees.
Great thread and great pics! Wish I could roll the clock back to September and do it again. Inspired me to replace my ancient Kodak digital with a Sony NEX and take a photography class.
Thanks Aron! I will get in touch. I have a couple questions and have also been thinking a lot about the Supertarp v MegaTarp, so may have a question or two about that.
