Backcountry pack advice

Glancing at your list I'm guessing you are missing some items. I would recommend getting very specific and detailed. It's too easy to forget some items and bring too many of others. I list everything out in a spread sheet and even weigh each item. Helps during packing/planning, as well as what to upgrade and knowing the impact. You will learn very quickly that pack weight is a limiting factor in your enjoyment and success of the hunt. The list helps to keep you to a minimum. There are a bunch of pack lists you can download on the Internet. Also some good podcasts that talk about this (South Cox, Randy Newberg, Exo guys). Super knowledgable. I'm sure you can refine your kit a lot i.e. you won't want 2 mountain house meals a day. Too much hassle, not convenient. You also don't need a spotter and tripod for elk archery. 10x42 binos are good enough. That saves you 4lbs right there. Happy to share my list and/or chat to discuss different items. I'm not an expert, but it's amazing how much you will learn and refine year after year.

Thx Bughalli and everyone else. After the help you all have bee I will definitely be getting a water filter if some sort and I will do a dry run a couple times before I go. Also as Bughalli mentioned I will start to getting rid/adding things to my pack as needed.

I'd leave spotting scope at home.

Rifle hunting bring it, archery leave it in truck
