Backcountry menu....need some input

I don't see any honey stinger in here. The waffles are really high cal/oz, and they pack very well.

I am also a Pro-Bar fan. good cal/oz and they have a good variety. I like them much better than any of the other energy bars I have tried.

Fruit and nut medley from Costco. big pcs of dried fruit. great tasting stuff. I always finish with that at night.

I get 2 different trail mixes from Winco bulk. One of them is 200cals/oz. really pushes my numbers in the right direction.

What kind of powdered milk do you use for granola or cold cereal? The stuff I tried tasted like baby formula.

Try Nestle NIDO whole milk powder, tastes like real milk by the glass or on cereal. 160 calories per mixed cup also 46% protein.

Sorry didn't see some else posted about this.

Too lazy to read the first three pages of posts so apologies if my info is redundant. One thing I do is make a spreadsheet with all my food options. Im an engineer and we love our spreadsheets! :D Typical daily food for me with some variations includes:

Either granola with powdered milk or oatmeal with some dried fruit added for variety. If I'm feeling lazy I just eat a pop tart. Via coffee gives me some calories and helps get the brain firing.
Honey stinger waffles, energy gel, jerky, trail mix, power bar, pop tart, almonds/cashews/pistachios, fritos for snacks. Will throw in salami and cheese early in the hunt too.
Lunch is usually a sandwich. My go to is PB, honey & bacon. Candy bar of some sort typically
Mountain house for dinners with a candy for dessert.
The biggest improvement I've made is drinking more water. I've found when it's hot and dry I tend to conserv too much water and end up not drinking enough. I force myself to drink a lot of water whenever I reach a water source to help keep hydrated and avoid muscles cramping up at night. I also carry some powdered energy drink to help supplement and vitamins. I also put my daily meals in individual bags to keep me on track each day. I try to carry 2500 calories a day and keep most everything at a 100 cal/oz minimum. You'll find what works for you with more experience and get your food list dialed in. For me going an entire trip on just cold food would be too hard mentally.

Here is my meal plan for last year.

Personally I can't do ALL MH meals, I like variety and real food. MH meals are my last 2-3meals.

For breakfast I do the Bare-Naked granola fruit & nut cereal w/ powdered milk. And I also like to spike it w/ a tablespoon of protein powder and some extra fruit & nuts. Can't stand oatmeal and I don't like to heat water for breakfast. Cold cereal is so much easier to consume on a ridge top while bugling or glassing. No reason to waste time in camp making breakfast when you can eat it cold on a ridge. And it uses less fuel for the trip. Might even switch to Via and cold coffee this year, just for that reason...less fuel.

For Lunch I make up sandwich bags with a mix of single serve items; protein bar, trail mix, nuts, PB or chedder crackers, Pepperoni sticks, a couple Crystal lite tea pks, a couple coffee nips. And I try to mix it up day to day. What isn't eaten stays in pack and rolls to next day. Some days I don't eat it all, other days I do. But a lunch bag runs close to 750cal. I should mention I'm really liking the Crystal Lite Tea pks... a lot.
