Baby its Cold Outside! What's your temp?

Different strokes for different folks. I don't mind winter. Have zero desire to live somewhere without four seasons.

Most of these super cold temps are coming from places with legitimate 5-6 month winters. That’s not seasons. That’s just a crap place to live for half the year.

Whatever dude. You aren't thinking about the future. In a few years you'll be baking in 150 deg temps and I'll be laying by the pool, come on global warming! Aaaany minute now...

Yep just keep waiting for that.

50 here today. Friday isnt gonna be cool. 31/16 friday.

For those of you who live where its gets ridiculously cold like -40 to -60 what do you actually do? I mean can you even drive in that cold? Does the truck heater even feel warm? How cold does your house get?

I grew up in N Minnesota in the 60s-70s. We didn’t even have running water back then.

You do what needs to be done. Plug in tractors and vehicles to keep the heater blocks warm. (Hell on cats)

Put some cardboard in front of the radiator so the -50/-60 cold air doesn’t gel up the antifreeze. Definitely park facing away from the wind.

When I drove semi up there, I didn’t shut my Cummins off for most of January or it would gel up and wouldn’t start.

Some of us enjoy playing In the winter.
It tends to weed out the whiners.

We drive. Properly working vehicle heaters stay plenty warm.

-39 is the lowest I've seen in 12 years here. A few years ago we had a neighborhood New Year party in a wall tent with propane heater at -25. My high octane beer got slushy before I could finish. Last year it was -34 at New Year at my brothers house. We waited until -25 to go coyote calling.

As @cnelk said, you do what you have to.

Current stats--plus the wind is blowing. I find the 98 degree differential interesting. House is warmer than its usual 67-68 for some reason.

We love the winters. Great break from the heat and winter has skiing, hunting, house projects, mini vacations and activities we don't normally do like taking our kids bowling, sxs drives looking for deer, movies at the theater.

The highs Thursday and Friday will be 4 with windchills at -30. The ole girl dog will most likely be using the potty pad lol.

Only one thing left to do when it’s nippy out…chain up and go ice climbing!!

Yeah I’ve been lucky enough to be able to be in the snowy mountains within 2 hours drive my whole life; while not having to deal with it at home.

Different strokes for different folks.
