The trick is to keep your feet dry. Switch socks every time you stop to glass or stop for food/water hiking. My feet sweat a lot and if my boots and socks get wet my feet get cold. Having a 2nd pair of insoles to switch out also helps. I’ve tried sock liners and I’d say it’s maybe a 20% improvement in “moisture management” many people have better success.
In reality, if you’re in the mountains hunting when there’s wet snow days on end, your feet will get wet. There’s no getting around it. You can limit it by switching socks and drying by the stove at night but you kind of just have to accept the suck. IMO.
