Tangentially…I’ve never understood guys who rail against gun registration etc, but stand in line to buy silencers etc etc etc. they are literally fingerprinting and keeping your pic on file. Maybe more to it than I understand.
No ones likes the process but if you want one it's currently the only way.

I get that. But it makes it really, really hard to justify why you wouldn’t just do the same thing for an AR if they went NFA. In other words, you’ll do it for a silencer but not for a gun?

I think its a little more skivy thinking about the government having your exact guns on a list vs suppressors. But I do understand where you are coming from.

The truth is, you shouldn't have to do it for a suppressor, or any other NFA item, either.

The problem is, if you don't buy suppressors, or other NFA items, then their plan worked. If no one is buying NFA items. That is what they wanted.

If you do buy suppressors, or any other NFA item, you have to do stupid human tricks and basically it is registered.

See why their bullshit is bullshit?

OK, just to be clear up front my political viewpoint is oriented to the right of Rush Limbaugh, Clarence Thomas & Ted Nugent & I agree with the gist of your statement. I personally think the 2A couldn't be any clearer & there shouldn't be any restrictions on "shall not be infringed". I think the pistol brace thing is complete horse crap and will be overruled eventually at the SC or federal judge just like the bump stock ban was. But here we are. How was CA able to get a 10 round magazine limit? Their citizens just accepted it, right? We all know the commies would confiscate every gun in a heartbeat if they could get away with it but they know they can't. I guess society has accepted that a silencer is not restricting their right to keep & bear arms.

I’m still trying to figure out what an “assault rifle” is? I’ve never seen one I guess
Going by their description, you have seen a bunch of them. That is the problem. They are really good, or bad, with shady language.

WA has the 10 round ban now too. And they're trying to stuff through a whole bunch of other crap besides the AWB.

The left seems to think the AR stand for Assault Rifle or Automatic Rifle when in fact the AR simply comes from the manufacturers name Armalite Rifle. They have to twist AR to meet their narrative and the koolaid drinkers eat it up.

Didn't CAs ban just get struck down?? I believe that it was ruled that it was infringing on the 2nd Amendment because the list of firearms restricted it to those that had been manufactured something like 10 years ago, the micro stamp is an impracticable factor. It is something that has not been developed by the industry. I also believe that the law does not fall in line with the NY ruling that the ban and its parts have not been historically enforced.

That was just the pistol roster, and then only micro stamping, and a few other things were ruled not legal.

Don't count on the courts in this state to overturn anything. Remember the whole capital gains/income tax debacle? That was supposed to be a slam dunk court case and look how that turned out...

Couple of reasons, if AR’s suddenly became illegal, I bet a lot just disappear. They can live long lives in safes and appear if needed. Also lots of other options to get the job done legally. If grandfathered, no one is going to ask, hey when did you buy that. They will still show up at ranges in legal configurations, making it hard to tell legal and illegal apart. Even if they knew who had what, it would take a long time to go get them all. California only confiscates about 10k guns per year from known felons. At that rate how long would it take to go get all the AR’s.
silencers on the other hand are known to be illegal without a stamp and it’s not like you can hunt with something else on your barrel to quiet it down. You either make an illegal one and take a big risk using it in public or play the nfa game If you want a quieter rifle/pistol.
if ar’s become nfa, I would probably register one. If for no other reason, they will appreciate like machine guns.

Not everybody uses or wants a suppressor. Having a gun registry for every gun purchased vs those who want a suppressor are very different things.

I think it’s a safe bet that many will never give them up,they will disappear untill needed like mentioned. The thing about Supressors is they have a list and can just go to that residence. Will it ever happen, who knows but it’s a safe bet if someone has a Supressor than they have a decent collection of firearms.

There are so many ways the government knows if you own guns. Do you have a ccw, have you ever filled out a 4473? The difference is unless every transfer has to go through a 4473, they don’t know what you currently own. I buy and sell, so if say a erpo was issued and they show up to remove weapons, how do they know if they have everything I own? Without a registry they have no idea. Also begs an interesting question, can the local Leo take possession of an nfa item?
