I was going thru my Bug out trailer and my hunting closet, I got books on eatable plants in California, a book on mushrooms and such. Over all I feel pretty good about my family and my chances of surviving a break down of social valves. But I had a discussion with some of my crew the other night and the question came up could I hot wire a car, could I get passed the steering and ignition locks ? It kinda set me back, ya I know could but how long would it take me and they would have to be all older vehicles, have no Idea how to hot wire a computer to start the vehicle.
So here comes some trips to the Junk yard (to practice) and some online searches.

All you need is a good AR. Teotwawki hits there'll be plenty of cars for the taking if needed to survive.
Best plan is to Shelter in Place if you have the Right place.
Traveling will get you killed or robbed.
I'm staying put right here at the end of a dirt road and Southern Truck driving Deer Hunters all around me.

While I understand your thought process, I think most people would feel better abd be smarter to stick it out at their own home behind a locked door, and the more likely scenario is natural disaster, so most people would be better off making sure they could withstand a month without electricity, running water, and heat. I know I’m not as prepared as I should be considering I have kids.

For edible plants around me I got the info out of the air force survival manual 64-3. Mine is a binder style classroom book. I took out the pages I wanted and copied them onto rite in the rain 8x11 paper and then trimmed, folded and punched holes in those and put em in a rite in the rain small binder with my other useful info.....for plants it is best to have good pictures.

The military survival manuals have some great info.....best to pick out the info you want and get it on indestructible paper in a small format. I thinkit would be vest to just hide out somewhere for the first 30-60 days if it gets real crazy.....not at home either.

There is a whole bunch of folks who are going to stay home and defend against the hoards or go do bushcraft in the nearest woods....most of those folks will die if it is all out crazy.

Most folks overestimate their abilities...and have no idea what the savages are going to be doing.

Again, I recommend military survival/sere manuals, ssomething like air force 64-3 or 10-644. Those will even tell you what to do to avoid radioactive fallout and how long to do that for....good luck fellas.

Very good full sized classroom books...big and heavy.

It is also a good idea to get familiar with the night sky to some degree so you know where the points of the compass are....by looking at a clear night sky.

I’m just gonna take advantage of all the desperate and unprepared people. It will be my own version of deal or no deal.
Just two questions:

Are these available in your version?

And if so, where do you live? 😁

Na man as long as the wife is alive I’m really gonna have to watch out on establishing my own harem. Doubt she will buy whatever BS line I dish out.
Having to deal with 26 former burned out beauty queens or actresses who came up short would be a massive headache. I’m only one man, 26 additional mouths to worry about would be a monumental task.
After 4 weeks of no makeup and only a couple showers, they will really lose their appeal.

Just what exactly do you guys think will happen? If I lived somewhere I thought I would have to bug out I’d “bug out” now. Just make sure you have plenty ammo, some water and maybe some fat neighbors that will still have meat on their bones a month or two in.

Lots of reasons to be prepared for anything goes......take your pick of natural disasters that could happen.....then there is the 'other' stuff...... people who are wanting to be prepared to survive catastrophe are smart thinkers....smart thinkers are in short supply nowadays.....plenty of folks think they are thou.....

You and all the other Rambo wannabes from Pittsburgh to Philly. Throw in a couple million New Yawkers too. Enjoy the bumper to bumper traffic on route 666!

I'd be willing to bet in a true hypothetical SHTF sitch that the preppers secretly wish for (barely plausible imo), deer and elk would be extinct within about a month.
