Are there any details on the Raven, custom Tikka action from UM?

I know that they are going with an integrated pic rail instead of the Tikka dovetail. Has anybody else heard any other differences?

A 3-position safety or being able to run the bolt while on safe would be a dream addition to a Tikka.

I'm going to get a custom rifle built and not sure if I should wait for that action or use a milled Tikka.

Unsure of any news but agree that a 3-position would be a dream come true. Excited to see what they come up with.

Also unsure if they’d have to change the trigger mechanism/design to allow for the 3-position which kinda defeats the purpose of them making a tikka clone because the triggers are supposedly more rugged and reliable in inclement weather than competitors.

If it isn’t a genuine tikka trigger I’m not interested
They said they’ll include an aftermarket trigger because they can’t get the factory ones. Triggertech or Timney. Can’t remember which one.

I agree though. I’m not sure if it’s possible to change the safety/bolt mechanism without changing the trigger.

I still want to try a KRG Midas trigger but cant bring myself to spend half the price of another complete tikka rifle for one.

They’re worth it. I have a Midas on both my Tikka builds. Once you’ve bitten the bullet on purchasing them, you’ll forget about the price haha. They feel fantastic, better than the Geissele Super 700 that I had on my Defiance.

Bolt release is a trigger, not an action, design point. We should harass KRG into making them.

I don't see a 3-position safety as a necessity for a rifle with a detachable magazine.

No need to "cycle" the action to unload the gun, as you just drop the magazine. As for having to take it off "safe" to remove the round in the chamber, this is where good gun handling procedures come in. That, along with the fact that the Tikka triggers are very reliable doesn't give me a lot of concern for having to take it off "safe" to pull the bolt back.

I have the Gen 2 midas and the timney.
I like both significantly more then the stock trigger.
Both triggers feel amazing. The midas locks the bolt while on safe the timney doesnt.

My concern is with children and new shooters. For you and me, it's not a big deal. My finger never enters the trigger guard until it's time to make a shot. But for teaching a newer shooter, it's just one more potential cause of concern.

To each their own. I have lots of money into the Tikka platform, and this is the one single thing that I wish was different.

Yeah, I don't think the bolt release is a requirement, and I would rather have the bolt lock and no release than not have the bolt lock (would be easy to cut the bolt lock off if not desired).

However, it is very nice to have. It is nice to have the gun on safe when I close the bolt. It is psychologically nice to have the safety on unless I want the firing pin to drop. These are user issues, not design flaw issues.

A Bolt release is a nice to have, not a need. But everything beyond a T3x Lite and a SWFA 6x in Sportsmatch rings is just a nice to have really. For something I plan to use for many years, why not have it how I like it, if I can.
