Hey there Silverodoo, I am actually a car dealer in San Diego and family owns a car dealership a business I grew up in and is never ending... We still sell to carmax on a daily basis, and I’ve sold my private vehicles in the past previously to carmax and only carmax as they pay most “most of the time” it never hurts to try others like them like shift also. umdortunetly in this business when someone knows you’re selling a family members car also you will most of the time get a bit of a lower number that’s just my experience with franchise dealerships or who you deal with if they truly don’t see a value in the car... you also have to be realistic and see how much someone can buy that car for brand new right now msrp as dealers look at that for newer vehicles they buy and re sell because who would come buy that car with 20k miles when a new one has a rebait or just flat out cheaper, often the case. Good luck but carmax for one thing I know is very easy and they’re pretty accurate on the online quotes they give. Cheers!Hey there, has anyone here ever used Carvana or Carmax to sell a car?
My mom recently passed and we’re taking care of the estate, which includes a 2023 Equinox premier AWD w/ 20k miles on it.
Local dealers are just giving lowball offers on it and it’s not generating much interest at KBB private party pricing (25-26k).
I ran the info through Carvana last night and got a higher offer than we were trying to get out of it.
Has anyone gone that route? Is there a bait and switch or are things above board?
Title will be back this week and we’ll proceed through the process, but figured I’d check here to see if anyone’s done it. Couple YouTube videos make it seem simple but I’m always skeptical when something seems to good to be true.
