Anybody switch from sportsmatch to UM and regret it?

I wanted the UM tikka rings for awhile, I ordered a few pairs since they are on sale this weekend. With the sale price and the shipping it sort of made sense to just buy 2 pairs.

I have sportsmatch to84 on two guns, I was thinking the UM are sort of an upgrade maybe for spacing and possibly durability.

Has anybody switched and been dIssapointed or happy with the choice? Any complaints about the UM rings?

Also, crazy to see that to84 are now 90.00 at AoA. I think they were 50.00 last time I bought them but that was a few years ago.

I really like the UM rings. I haven’t used the Sportsmatch rings, but the UM rings compare very favorably against the other rings I have used in the past.

Other than being a little more bulky than the sportsmatch, they (UM) seemed to be a much higher quality product IMO. I can’t remember why I traded mine off..but I have like 5 tikkas right now and they all have the sportsmatch rings since I had picked up a bunch of them a long time ago.

The UM rings are first class and do everything a set of rings is supposed to do. They have not replaced existing T084’s, but I have not purchased a set of Sportsmatch rings since the UM rings have been available. They’re on every rifle I’ve put together since they’ve been available.

After having a sportsmatch failure, UM is the way to go.

What was the failure? I had a scope slip in mine a couple weeks back, and on a light recoiling rifle too.

Screw head broke off on ring cap.

I prefer unknown rings. The only issue i had with sportsmatch was self inflicted with partially stripping the head of one of the screws.

Currently have both and like both. No failures or issues with either. I’ve got more rounds and miles on the Sportsmatch. The additional bulk of the UM gives me more faith in them for no other reason than amount of material.

Haven't swapped any SM sets out for the UM's, but have used a couple of sets of the UM's, and won't likely buy any more SM's so long as the the UM are available..

They work really well. If you’re already setup with soortsmatch I wouldn’t tell a guy to swap to UM rings.

If you need new rings for a Tikka the UMs are what I’d recommend personally.

I just sort of wanted them. I havnt had any problems with sportsmatch and I havnt babied them I just had some money burning a hole in my pocket and already have everything I want. The UM sale popped up so I figured what the heck. 200 bucks for a few sets of UM rings, I’ll get 100 bucks selling my 2 pairs of sportsmatch rings so it’s 100 bucks to get sturdier Gucci scope rings.
