Any Tikka 300wsm magazine mod?

Just wondering if anyone had modified their tikka wsm magazine for a longer COAL. If so, please let me know and post pics.

I was also wondering if the 6.5prc magazine allows for a longer coal and would work for my 300wsm.

It's probably easier to use the LA magnum magazine (for 300win and 7mm rem). Then swith out the bolt stop to the LA mag bolt stop. WSM should run fine on them.

I was briefly researching the cases of each cartridge and looks like the 6.5prc has the most similar case size. Case rim and diameter. I will have to check with my buddies 7rm to see if my 300wsm case fits.

Hells Canyon makes a magazine specifically for WSM/PRC. I have one, but am in the process of building the rifle out, so no real experience yet. Build quality seems great though.

I got one of the hells canyon mags for my tikka 300wsm.

I would say take the bullet u are intending to shoot and a mod case and see how long your throat is and see what the coal would be after setting it back .020. It almost was not worth the effort when I loaded up 168 ttsx in mine.

The Mountain Tactical Gen 2 billet mags allow for a longer COAL than the factory mags.

Im in the middle of this myself. I bought a hells canyon mag and it functions great in my wsm. I just picked up a rough tech in 6.5prc and the factory magazines for the two calibers are exactly the same. I spoke with mountain tactical on the phone today and they suggested buying their long action gen2 mag which will hold 5rds of 300wsm with an extended COAL..if you’re running heavies (212s for me) this gives you more room than the SA mag which stops at like 3.10

The LA magnum tikka mags wont work for the 300 wsm. I tried but there is too much room for them to cycle correctly.

6.5 is a double stack and will not feed 300wsm. Go with Hells Canyon as suggested above

Just updated the thread I started on it. Proceed with caution as some of the things I did were pretty crude, but the concept works and with a bit of refinement I think I'll get from 90% to 100% feeding pretty easily with a trip to the hardware store.
