I know about the prevailing sentiment on the forum towards hunting with certain match bullets (TMKs, ELDMs, ELDXs, etc...). I was wondering if you can generally expect similar performance with any run of the mill HPBT bullet moving at pretty high velocity?
In my specific case, my CMP Expert Grade m1903a3 should be shipping any day now, and to go with it I ordered 160 rounds of 168gr S&B HPBT Match. If I manage to get a surplus B tag I think I would like to try filling it with that combo. For me, depending on how well the rifle shoots, this would be a 200yd and in combo. I assume the bullet is something produced in-house by S&B, so afaik its a mystery meat performer.
I suppose if this is a bad idea, I could always pick up some Hornady ELDM Vintage Match. But I like to practice with what I hunt with, and that stuff is pricey.
