Took her apart after work and the thermostat was stuck wide open. Got the wrong one so back to the store tomorrow and she should be good as new.

Always a good thing when they stick open and not closed.

Change your brake lines first. Not the steel one. The rubber ones. They’ll be about $25 for both back lines.

I’m not a mechanic. But, I’ve done a lot of wrenching on vehicles over the years. It never gets discussed in conversations about brakes but, the rubber lines coming from your steel ones, to the back of your caliber are the culprit of a lot of unforseen brake issues. They weaken over time and collapse. Causing flutter and sticking calipers.

If your drums aren’t bad, this is going to likely be the issue.

Going to pop this back up and don’t want to start a new thread.

Wife’s car needs a new battery and the spec calls for AGM and that’s what is in it. I was under the impression that AGM was really only needed with cars that have start stop, which this car doesn’t have.

Do I have to replace with AGM or would a standard flooded battery be fine?

What kinda car? If it has a powered lift gate an agm would be better suited for that.

2017 Kia Optima LX. The most fancy thing it has on it is a back up camera.

My only concern is that everything is tight in the engine compartment and some reading has said that the AGMs handle the heat better.

That could be and if it’s a turbo that will generate more heat under the hood. We have an 18 optima non turbo, nothing fancy with a regular battery, no issues.

No turbo here either. How long have you had the non AGM in?

It’s only 50 bucks more for the AGM and I don’t like to spend money when I don’t have to but by the time I have to take a battery back and deal with the BS, I will be wishing I spent the extra 50.

Since July last year. We had it replaced free as part of a collision repair but if it was my money I’d pay the extra $50. Thought it was more than that.

Costco man. Best prices I have found for batteries.

Just do it. You can get a hot dog for 1.50 to offset your extra battery cost. Just don’t let the wife splurge for the turkey sandwich. It’s like 7 bucks.
