Been studying up on my traps and trapping methods. Haven't had a bunch of practice but plan to discreetly with my Grand son.
I have never played with fish traps, studied some like the cone and box traps and the catch the real tiny fish side pool just to stay alive, but nothing in the real world.
Now my scat location is not near a lake but it does have plenty of streams so I am really looking towards the stream traps.

“Indiscreetly” and “Scat location”.

Where would this be and what would the target species be such that this would be legal?

To quietly out of the publics eye to practice ( Discreetly)
The place you go when you quietly get the hell out of town (Scat place )
I also have a scram trailer pre-packed and ready to go.
totally legal

Discreet makes more since than your original indiscreet.
Only ever heard of “scat” used as a name for feces, so the term “scat place” struck me as odd.
And now you add “scram” rather than the more popular term “bug out”.
You have an interesting use of words.

Not real versed on use of traps in streams, but would imagine the usual cone door setup would work, just need some bait or to place it in a sheltered area they use to hide. Could also catch crayfish at the same time if available.

Traps are great as they work while you are off doing other things. The original “multi-tasking”.
I’d be concerned with size, pack ability, and visibility to others.
Id recommend hooks and line you could set out (bank lines, trot line, ect..) as well as small wire and large cable snares.
You can carry lots, less visible to other folks, easy to deploy, and if folks find one or two and take them it’s not a big loss.
Also you can sneak around deploying them and encounter other folks without giving away your intentions. Can’t do that carrying a fish trap.

Guess as long as I know what I mean when I need to know what I mean its good.
I should be far enough away from people not to have to worry about just happening across them.
Came across some good fish traps, No hooks Bait or line required. I believe I can adapt and modify as necessary for the situation.
Thank you for the input
