Annealing Service - viability?

He's pointing out to advertise on here for business purposes you need permission (and probably the other forums you referenced). You'd need to talk to the site owners about it and financial arrangements. Its something you'd need to factor into your pricing structure to cover so he was wisely giving you a heads up on that for pricing purposes and to not run afoul of the rules and get booted.
For sure! Definitely would contact the proper site management and make sure I’m operating according to the rules.

Did he break this rule? "if you register as a member and use your company logo in your Avatar, your company name (in many cases,) and/or your company contact info in your signature line, your account will be deleted without notice."

Not sure he went to that extreme, I'll have to ask. It was several years ago, he doesn't have the company anymore.

Have you considered offering trimming too?

It crossed my mind at dinner tonight, that when it's time to anneal brass, it's usually almost time to trim too. Might as well do both for one shipping cost.

??

Offering full prep service would probably be a good idea. Including swaging, etc. If they're bumping shoulders have them send a piece to spec.

Personally, if I was going to pay for annealing, I would be expecting an AMP.

I understand. My thought process is: my annealer is sitting on my bench in my house. I like to make money that goes directly into this hobby. It doesn’t take long to set up for any cartridge, and once I get the heat set, it runs itself. Pack them back up, create a label, and mail it back.
My son found this guy on SH a couple of years ago and sent him 500 pieces of Hornady .260. He was very happy with the service. Maybe it will give you an idea about pricing, etc.

The only variation you’d have would be the initial setting of the machine (which I could set using tempilaq)

One thing to remember if using Tempilaq is that most of the time it is recommended to use 750-degree. That temperature is based on having a soak-time of 1 hour. In order to achieve rapid annealing you need to be up around 1000. The actual data on temperature is limited, but I arrived at that temperature by using a calibrated laser thermometer taking readings on brass opposite of the flame and observing when it started to get the "dull red glow". If you use 750, you will not actually anneal the brass.
Also, that crap is a PITA to get off of the brass.

I think yall are onto something if you have a price sheet for a full case prep including, annealing, trimming and cleaning.

Holy cats is that cheap. Makes me want to send him 1000 pieces of brass to anneal for $50?! shipping would probably be more expensive.

I used to mail off my brass for annealing a longgggggg time ago. I probably saw an ad in the back of Varmint Hunter magazine 😂.

I ended up buying a flame annealer but am always skeptical about that I’m actually doing something. I would pay for someone to anneal my brass with an AMP.

Not that it matters. I lose brass to primer pockets or clickers wayyyyy before I need to anneal. 😂

I’d also not pay for a flame anneal. Part of annealing for me is bringing my brass back to same spring back so I don’t have to adjust dies when sizing. I don’t think you could do that with a flame sending it out each time like you could an amp.

How many firings do you get without annealing?

I dont think i've let any go past 6 firings without an anneal, never pushed to the point of splitting necks.

AMP has done a great job of selling their process. All their technical info is interesting. Still, I have yet to hear of any actual difference with it on target over flame annealing. In fact the same could be said of an AMP vs a guy hand holding a torch spinning cases in a cordless drill. If it made even 1/16 MOA difference on target we’d all own an AMP.

I’d have to agree with you. The longer I live, and the more I learn, I see that mountains are made out of mole hills in so many things.

For me it’s as much about as not having to mess with my dies as it is consistent neck tension.

My current lot of dasher brass is on its 6th firing. I havnt had to touch my tools due to work hardening. No adjustment and it’s making the same exact numbers as far as I can measure. Before annealing I was needing serious adjustment by load 4-5.

Amp makes it easy because it gives me a number I can type in each time I do that brass. Put it in the hole and it’s done. They are expensive though.

Does it matter on target? I don’t know. I do like consistency though.
