Was in my local sporting goods store store yesterday and saw they had a few different styles of Aku boots, which I’ve never seen before. I tried on the Rocket’s and found them really comfy in the store and a pretty unique design/lacing system. Anyone have any experience with the brand in general? I was mainly looking at them as a summer hiker and archery elk boot

They’ve been around for a while in europe, but at least for a while they didnt have consistent distribution in the US so not many folks will have worn them. My impression is they are pretty good quality on par with most of the brands folks are familiar with and generally pretty well regarded there, but have not worn them personally.

They made some of my favorite boots in the 90's. They're the oem on some of the boots Cabela’s sold before they sucked.

I bought a pr of Aku Selveticas online, midsole cushioning is a little sparse under the ball of my foot. Wore for several days scouting for a sheep hunt, had foot pain, switched to my Salomon 4ds and the pain went away, noticeable difference in cushioning and my Salomons are well broke in. Boots are very light and well made. List price around $280, geartrade has for $99, I think I paid around $75. Rocket is the current version, 14.8 oz/ boot. The Salomons are about a pound heavier/pr.
