Whoever at the NEC thought it would be a good idea to put freezers/fridges on GFCI should be kicked in the taint…..hard!I never run frig or freezer on a GFI. That is one of the worst NEC codes for sure. We moved last November, the frig quit that next day, took 2 plus weeks to get a new one up here. I can feel your pain.
I had a girl friend years ago that had a bad habit of walking or standing behind me in the kitchen. Always with a glass of wine or drink. I did most of the cooking and she cleaned up after. I kept telling her over and over not to stand behind me for fear I would spin around and knock her down. That wasn't going to work out good for her as her 5’5” 130 lb frame was no match for my 6’2” 350 lb frame. I told her if you wont stop that at least make some noise back there so I can hear you. There was a nice counter with big huge comfy leather bar stools right there in the kitchen so no need to be hover’n around behind me. Just a bad habit. I think she thought I was an jackazz for constantly telling her to get out of the kitchen but I would have felt terrible if I would have hurt her by knocking her down. Fortunately I only did turn into her once. Knocked her favorite mega size wine glass out of her hands and shattered it on the floor.
