I was strolling through the pro shop at the ski lodge prior to going mountain biking and saw these boots which I’ve never seen before, tried them on and they felt good.
Noodled on them for a bit, read some reviews and they were generally positive so I grabbed a couple pairs to try out.
First off they’re light, sub 14 oz per boot, secondly they seem very well made, claimed to be waterproof, and have a bit more ankle support for steep training hikes I like to do in the summer compared to my trail shoes.
Today I decided to give them a decent test.
Putting them on, they’re a bit of work to get the laces right compared to most shoes/boots. That being said said I retied them and adjusted them once in 5 miles compared to my other boots and shoes which seem to need it more often. The leather tongue really holds the laces in place. This hike sucks because you’re going into a hole, down hill they held in place and my god is the sole sticky, best traction I’ve seen from a trail type shoe. (I also use the Nike ultraflys which are sticky as well)
I got the first 5er in with them, very impressed, not impressed with running out of water at the bottom due to stupidity on my part in 95 degree heat.
I’m going to run them a bunch early season and I’ll continue to post my thoughts. First impression though is that I’m impressed.
