Air Lock Industries Suppressor

I got my 7mmZG today. My experience after putting a few rounds through it was like what others have said.
  • Crazy light, almost like a toy
  • Great fit / finish
  • Seems to perform as well as my larger can (Q Thunder Chicken), at a fraction of the size
  • Heats up fast (21" 6.5 creed)
I don't know how you beat this performance at this form factor. Looking forward to the other cans Air Lock puts out.

These cans were built for the ultralight hunters that value size and weight above anything else. I don’t see the reason for a super lightweight/compact can to go on a 20lb+ 375 or 50. But I’m also just a fng here what do I know.
Thing is they seem to suppress so well there is minimal trade off. Might as well have great suppression and small size/weight.

One trade off is quickly heating up. Not a problem for hunting but less desirable for target shooting. With a big and heavy rifle already, not sure why chase an ultralight can like this… for something like a 50bmg.

Yeah, these cans seem to fit perfectly in the Rokslide small cal, low recoil moto. I don't understand why people are requesting them for heavy recoiling large calibers that will probably be in heavy, long rifles.

I wonder if these cans are starting to show us an endpoint in suppressor design. At a certain point you capture so much gas and heat up so quickly that it starts to limit what you can do with the suppressor. The airlock seems to fit an amazing use case, but still, it'll be interesting to see how designs keep evolving.

you must not be familiar with the bigger hunting stuff, I am. There are plenty of 338 lapua improved, 33xc, 37xc, 375 cheytac sub 16lb hunting builds. My 338 lapua imp sits around 11lbs fully loaded (without can) and I would love a lighter and shorter option for it vs my current sico 338 harvester.

Just because it's a large caliber doesn't mean it needs to be on 5' long 30lb rifle.

Imagine complaining about having more suppressor options, very strange take.

All I am saying is it would be cool if they did some bigger stuff in the future, not drop what they are doing and focus on big stuff, no need to get defensive.

My thoughts as well. In the exo podcast Danny did, he reiterated my frustration with the suppressor market. Super saturated market in which the vast majority of manufacturers focus on hard use stainless cans. Eventually they put out a titanium can to appease the hunters but they’re still usually pretty long and somewhat heavy (to those of us that count ounces) and are typically overbuilt for the average hunter. Sure you can get a compact 5” can but then you give up a lot of suppression. I think airlock fits the ultralight hunting can niche insanely well and honestly it’s one of the only companies I can think of that is exclusively building cans for ultralight backpack hunters. I just hope the focus and development stays in that niche for awhile until they can get caught up with demand because it’s something the suppressor market has been lacking for a long time.

An 11lb lapua and you’re throwing a can on it instead of a brake? More of a man than me brother 😂

it's honestly really manageable, I think you would be surprised
Ahh I see. A braked can, now you’re cheating. Jokes aside that’s a sweet build, and I think Danny stated they’re working on some braked cans that are unlike the others on the market so that’ll be interesting.
