Gents-

I’ve never owned a ML before now but have a chance to bear hunt with one this fall. No bullet restrictions.
Anyone care to educate me on what this ML likes to eat?
I’m hoping for a complete recipe/starting point-since every rifle that I do an ammo test on costs me 6 boxes of varying ammo to the tune of $150!
I thank you in advance-

Mine likes 250 grain Thor bullets with 110 grains (by volume) BH209 and a Fed 209A primer. Be sure to get the Blackhorn breech plug if using BH209 powder.

Mine like 76 grains weighed (a hair less than 110g volume) bh209 pushing Barnes 250 tez. As said above, get the bh209 breechplug

+1 accura v2
I tried alot of different loads/bullets/sabbots
With disappointment.

Picked up this bullet same powder charge bullets touch at 100yds

Shot large bull elk 180yds did great

BH209 breech plug
78-80gr by weight BH209
260gr Harvester Scorpion Gold PT w/ black crush rib

Used in two Accura V2 and one Accura MR -- same results in all- 1.5" @ 150y

BH209 breech plug.
CCI 209 magnum primer.
110 gr (volume) BH 209 powder.
290 gr Barnes T-EZ bullet.

Best of luck and let us know how it goes.

I've had great performance with the Thor bullets. I use 300 grain tipped bullet, 100 grains of blackhorn with cci magnum 209 primers. Make sure you upgrade to BH breach plug and good luck.

Barnes 250 grain TMZ with two triple 7 magnum pellets, cci 209 magnum primer. The Hornady SST 250 grain shoots even better but not as good of a slug as the Barnes. Both loads around 1MOA at 100 and 200 yards.

Tried mine with blackhorn and breach plug and had to drop the powder charge to an unacceptable level (increased drop and trajectory) to gain as good of accuracy as the 777 magnum pellets.

I am curious of the ballistics of the loads listed by others above. What is your 100 yard zero and drop at 200 yards?

You guys ever try the harvester crush rib sabots with the barnes bullets? I began using them when I was shooting a TC and the sabot was pretty difficult to push down the barrel (my wife couldn't push hers down at all) and was getting good accuracy. Switched to an Accura and just kept using the crush rib sabots and have never tried the blue factory sabots again - wondering if accuracy would be better? I haven't done a ton of testing, so just curious if you guys have.

I have a CVA Accura MR. Started with Hornady SST 250gr. Shooting 110 gr. by volume BH209 with the correct breech & primers.
Wasn't thrilled about the groupings. Switched to Barnes 290 T-EZ, world of difference. Getting 3-3 1/2" groups at 300 yds. Used to shoot pellets, switched to BH209, Never going back! Never tried Thor's, but friends shoot them. There are a great bullet. Stay far away from Powerbelts.

I have mine sighted in 3" high at 100 yards. At 200 yards it averages 6-7" low. My load recipe is posted above.

@timberbuck I've read that BH 209 does better with heavier bullets. Have you tried the 290 TMZ or TEZ?

I had great results with 80gr (WEIGHT) BH209 and 300gr Harvester Sabertooths-- 1850fps, pass through on muley buck and far offside recovery on a cow elk @ 100 yards, 190gr weight retained despite punching BOTH shoulders

I’m shooting Accura v2
300 grain Thor bullet
77grains (true measured weight) BH209

Zero at 100 yards
13 inch drop at 200 yards.
