AAE Max Hunter Vanes - Won't stay glued on?

I have had good luck with both the max hunters and max stealth vanes( same material as the max hunters)
I use use Lock tight control gel. I clean the shaft with ETOH and let it dry. Haven't been using wraps. I been using the AAE on both Easton ACCs, BEA rampages and gold tip velocities.

With all AAE max vanes i prep the shaft and base of the vane with acetone. I use AAE maxbond glue (as their instructions state) and they hold great. Im sure if you use a glue similar in chemical make up it would work equally well. Maxbond is a cryanoacrylate ester which i believe is different than regular cryanoacrylate.

I called AAE yesterday after having to ruin my 2nd doz wraps due to vanes not sticking. Was told never to use acetone on the shaft, even though I'm using a wrap.

I have their primer pen, and use the Max Bond glue with my Max Hunters. I'm not going to use them again, just ridiculous to have to spend $25 + shipping to glue vanes onto an arrow.

Customer service was not what I expected, I guess it's time for me to find a new vane. Really too bad, I like the way those Max Hunters look and perform. But I work too hard for my money to support a company that doesn't appreciate it.

I've put my own arrows together for close to a doz years, worked in an actual pro shop putting arrows together, and have NEVER had this much trouble.

IMO Flex Fletch are more trouble than the Max Hunters. Plenty of other vanes out there that work very well with fixed BH's and glue on without any prep work like QS's and Fusion Xii's. And these vanes keep their shape even after shooting them through targets.

I dont disagree. I love Fusion. However, I have never had issue with flex fletch unlike AAE

I have several friends that love the 360s. I think both work really well. They are a high vane so if you have borderline clearance issues, watch that close if you give them a run.

I'm loving their new 2.1" Xii's in a 4-fletch and 3-fletch, even more so than their 3" with fixed heads. I didn't think I'd ever find anything that would replace my QS Speed Hunters.

I had problems with AAE max vanes sticking to the shafts until I just followed their instructions. Now I can't rip them off.

I've followed their instructions to a "t" and can't get the green vanes to stick at all. I eventually went back to blazers, pretty disappointing, but I'm not changing anything this close to the season.

Anyone want them for pretty cheap? Not sure how many are left, but I'd be willing to bet it's greater than 50.

Qtip vane with acetone. Alcohol the shaft. Then I put vane in clamp and scuff base with AAA battery wrapped with a piece of sandpaper. Can't pull them off

I think they are inconsistent makeup based on the color, I read a few on "archeryfight" with the same findings. I do like them now since they are quite a bit less expensive than my ffp 360's

I am using them in pink. They stick well when I do my part. I really like them

I had the same problem with my first batch in June but I got another dozen a month ago and they are holding fine. The new ones came from a different shop but the guy did say they had to send back several hundred cause they didn't stick.

I put them on a wrap with with loc tite gel after cleaning them with acetone. Stayed on even after being lodged inside a elk. To much work for the results I'm going back to blazers after this season. While they control the broadhead better they also have a ton more wind drift on my setup

I had a similar experience with some stealth max vanes earlier this year, about pulled my hair out. Got to looking and they slightly changed the design of their vane base and it was deeper and more of a V shape than a pack of vanes from last year.I looked at the arrow I had just fletched and the center of the vane base was not contacting the shaft. Only thing contacting the shaft was the outside edges of the vane base. Called AAE and they were aware of this issue and sent me a new pack of vanes. since then they are sticking like usual. I always acetone vane bases and the shaft and use max bond glue. Not sure if perhaps there is a similar problem with the max hunters.

I have been looking to move to a lower profile 4 fletch setup as I like the extra clearance it provides but was on the fence as to which vanes would offer me that advantage and still be able to control a fixed blade head. Those look nice! I shoot wacem 4 blades at 280 fps, do you think these would be worth a shot?
