Never meant to imply that. I guess that's why typing on the internet gets taken wrongly often. You immediately get defensive for no reason if anyone questions your thoughts. I think its clear 1 scope broke and you admit it.

I did not get defensive. I want objective information. I am no fan of NF- I don’t use anything scope that they make for general hunting. It’s isn’t about NF, or Trijicon, or Leupold, or any other scope company. It’s about being intellectually honest. There are 4-5 posters that seem to be unable to use critical thought, reasoning, and logic with certain subjects.
I am supposed to be biased, arrogant, and incompetent- yet I don’t hunt with NF, Maven hasn’t made a scope worth a flip until the 1.2, Leupold Mark 4 M3A fixed powers are excellent, Leupold’s Mark 4 spotting scopes are probably the best field spotters for killing on the market, Zeiss finally made a scope that generally works, etc., etc.

I am not knowledgeable on Nightforce's bonding process and asked if " you are saying it is impossible for a zero shift to happen without lenses rattling?"

Impossible? No- nothing is truly 100% impossible. Unbelievably unlikely that 2x somehow didn’t get bonded, yet the lenses haven’t fallen out; or that those two somehow got toilet paper rolls for tubes…. Yes. So unlikely, that someone really should isolate what’s causing it, because one could take those odds to the lottery.

NXS’s and other NF’s, along with a few other scopes makes/models have a very specific failure mode, if/when they fail. They do not have large shifts and still work.

Oh boy. I kicked the hornets nest here. I hope it hasn't been conceived that I am arguing that the scopes in fact failed and it wasn't an issue elsewhere. I will begin trouble shooting other avenues before sending it back because maybe there is an issue I am not seeing or maybe something I missed.
The 2 NXSs i haven't seen since elk season and have no idea on their status but I will be making some phone calls and seeing if we can get to the bottom of those as issues well. They likely could have been a loose mount. They aren't my rifles and I wasn't there when either we're mounted.

Not at all. It’s a perfect opportunity for all involved.

do we put the rs1.2 in the same category of “it’s not losing zero unless it’s catastrophically broken?”

I enjoy the reticle very much, but I always used my NF 3-15 F1 before. I know that scope will break only after everything else has failed. Lol

No. I have only seen 4 or 5 used very hard- that is 3,000+ rounds and a lot of “abuse”, and only around 20-25 total used for at least 500 rounds. They have done well with no major issues, and for hunting and general rough use they have shown to be perfectly adequate, but it is highly doubtful that they are as ultimately as durable/reliable when taken to extremes.

You have the most reliable scope make/model probably ever made.

Instead of making snarky comments or laughing emojis in almost every thread, why don’t you come shoot with us and show us how wrong and ignorant we are? There is a S2H course in February- it’s only a few hours from you; come for free, bring your rifles and show us what’s up.
Apparently I need to start making making sparky comments and laughing emojis...

With regard to bonded lenses etc, that is a catastrophic failure for sure if they move, but wouldn’t small shifts be more likely to be an erector assembly issue?

It seems like the rifle would get a smoother ride strapped to your pack. That is what I do on my dirt bike.

@PanhandlePilgrim if @Ucsdryder will come shoot with us- we would like to buy your Trijicon and your buddies NXS’s. We will mount them, test them, and shoot them mounted to a SxS for 7 days with @Ucsdryder rifles riding right beside them and document everything that is done. @NevadaMike you are invited as well- if the those NF NXS’s lose zero by 2+ MOA during the week, the course is free for you.

If you guys actually believe what you write, there is near zero risk for you- you get to shoot for a week, ride snow machines, ski and snowshoe in the mountains; eat excellent food, and run around and shoot in terrain and situations that is very likely you have never experienced…. AND you get to show how biased and incompetent we are. We’ll even film all the use of the scopes- zero checks, riding, dropping, skiing; y’all’s shooting performance, our shooting performance, etc; for everyone to see.

Interesting…

You do realize that I’m from Colorado right? Home of the Rocky Mountains? They cover almost half our state. They’re big and Rocky. I think I was a part of 12 tags this year, so not sure what terrain Idaho has that I haven’t been lucky enough to experience yet!

My first time in Idaho hunting elk was 1992. I was 10 and did 26 miles into the frank church on horseback. I know, nothing compared to your adventures but not bad for a 10 year old that needed a stump to reach the stirrups.

What would the menu be? Asking for a friend that curious what the excellent food consists of… is there green chili or turkey burgers?

I’m fortunate to have places to shoot as far as the eye can see and people that I enjoy shooting with and around.

As far as the invite, the menu might sway me, but for obvious reasons I’m hesitant to spend a week hanging out with you. Send menu please…

You’d actually show up instead of ignoring direct conversation.
Am I invited? I will leave you with this for a down payment🤣 I would come and learn something. I have pretty good skill but there is always ways to get better. I could also **** with the lawn gnome and the caveman Jake about rokstocks.... might make it interesting.

Sounds like a good chance for you to meet each other and spend some time proving out what both your experiences are. Nobody loses and maybe you will become friends. What do you have to lose?

How many of those animals did you miss, wound, and/or lose this year?

The class is in southern Montana.

Exactly the response expected. Your own buddy tries to get you to shoot with him and see, yet you avoid that as well.

If you decide to stop being a troll, and come show us how wrong we are- the invite is there.

Lost 1 bull on a ML tag. I appreciate your curiosity. Are you genuinely curious what happened with my ML bull? I guess if I could have shot him 5 times like someone else this year, including a coup de grace, I would have had zero, but with a ML you only get one shot. Then you measure out powder, drop in a projectile, and seat it with a rod. Oh, and put in a primer. So unfortunately after I shot mine in the ass, I couldn’t keep shooting like previously mentioned dead eye.

What terrain does southern Montana have that Colorado doesn’t? Maybe I’m missing out on something I wasn’t aware of because Montana is the one western state I haven’t hunted.

Still waiting on menu…

Oh and mentioned friend has nothing to do with this conversation. I’d gladly go shoot with him but usually we’re headed in opposite directions to shoot. I know you’re surprised but I have more than 1 friend! 😜
