Am I the only one bothered when hunters say they "harvested" an animal?

We aren't farmers. We are hunters. We kill the animal and harvest the meat. Why are we so afraid to say the word kill?
You aren’t alone there.

When I used to dive sea urchins, though it was a fishery, harvested was the description of our catch, but picking sea urchins is a lot more fitting for harvest… besides that, in the context of fishing or hunting, I don’t care for the term harvest… it doesn’t sound natural, just out of the way PC

What sounds correct for a government publication:

Harvest Statistics
Kill Statistics
Blew the Schitt Out of Them Statistics
Knocked Dik in the Dirt Statistics

At least to my ear, harvest is the ideal word for general government use. Between friends we’d never use it for any reason other than to refer to a government publication. If they did we might go to the range without them - it’s just too weird.
