Singing to the choir won’t yield answers. Maybe go out and ask a non hunter and an anti hunter what the difference between kill and harvest means to them. There is far more of them out there than us. Living in a state where our hunting tradition is being attacked, I have come to believe perceptions matter. We need the non hunters on our side in the long run. It’s crazy how many don’t understand that we eat what we kill. That we are in fact required by law to eat it. Me…I agree with the guy who referred to the word “get”. That’s what people ask me when I come back from a hunt.

I could see that, as mentioned earlier killing is the taking the animals life. Harvesting is taking that meat home.
The killing part is also harvesting.

harvest
… “catch or kill (animals) for human consumption: the quantity of squid harvested has risen.”… catch or kill (animals) for human consumption: the quantity of squid harvested has risen.”

I'm the other way on this. I think it is harvesting. We are taking something to eat it, well, I am anyway.

I think people that overuse "kill" are trying to make it something more than it is.

I also eat most animals that I kill other than some predators and vermin.

I appreciate all the points of view that have been posted on this.

Maybe I don't care for the term because I feel it makes light of the fact or ignores the fact that we are indeed killing.
