95g TMK Recipes

A few updates after trying some additional powders.

Decided to try H4350 again as I have a bunch of it. Also bought a few others to test: H1000, Varget and Win760.

I went to the range this time and used a bench with front/rear rest to be sure there was no influence from me as the shooter.

Much to my surprise, the H4350 load shot WAY better than last time. Barrel is a bit more broken in now (250+ rounds) but I’m wondering if my shooting combined with some mirage was the reason for bad groups with H4350 in my first post.

The Varget also did really well. I was appalled how bad the H1000 shot and the Win760 was acceptable but nothing special.

Next I plan to shoot some larger groups with both H4350 and Varget to see which is more accurate and also get some velocity data. I’m guessing I’ll end up shooting the H4350 load since I have a bunch of it but we’ll see.

All loads with the 95TMK were 2.8” in length. Charge data is in the attached photo.

I was counting on 2.770 48gr H1000 as my quick drop load but I did not record a group because that barrel was wonky.

I'll load some up tonight and try tomorrow in the new barrel just to see and report back.

I was thinking it was the 2.8" length that might have been the trouble, but I got the h1000 load to shoot in my gun.

I'm normally loading this 2.70" like the manual says and they still don't have that much neck contact at that length.

Your experience with H4350 and H1000 mirrors mine. H4350 shot significantly better than H1000 for me. I also tried 4831SC; it wasn’t great, but not nearly as bad as H1000.

Just wanted to confirm a few things.

You said you got it to shoot, are all those impacts on target the H1000 load? If so, about 3-4” group I’m guessing?

Is that charge correct? 58g of H1000? What cartridge is this if so?

That's probably a 2.25" group? I shot all 10 in a row and kept going thru the shimmer, so I wasn't owning that low one when I made the post. Good call out. The zero is set for 115 DTAC.

I'm using 48gr H1000 in that post. It's a 6 creedmoor. That was the Quik Drop load I carried over from the 16" barrel that I pulled. I shot more yesterday and ended up dropping my charge to 46.3gr in this 18" 6 creed barrel to slow it down for Quick Drop in the longer barrel.

Fair enough on the group, either way it's a much better result than I got.

I don’t want to seem argumentative but want to be sure for safety’s sake that those charges are correct (58 and 56.3g H1000 in a 6 creed).

I just struggle to see how 58g of H1000 would even fit, let alone be safe to fire in a 6Creed. The 243 data maxes out at 47.6g of H1000 and while there isn’t data for it in 6Creed, the powders that overlap for both cartridges all show 1-2 more grains for the 6Creed vs the 243. Getting over 10 grains more H1000 seems like it would be overfilled and likely compressed and over pressure.

A quick google AI search seems to agree.

Any chance you meant 48 and 46.3 grains instead?

Yeah, you're right. Those are the charges. It's been a long day. I'll edit my posts.
