Sierra 153 TMK Load Data

It's just hard for me to fathom a Creedmoor being faster than a PRC with the same length factory barrel (Tikka) regardless of powder. I'm burning 15 grains more (N565) to push the same bullet. N565 is supposed to be pretty dang good for PRC and heavies. I'm definitely interested in trying an Alliant powder. I know ultimately these speeds won't make a huge difference. But as a hobbyist, I'm always interested in best/most efficient. (Of course my ProChrono could be off, I haven't had a chance to shoot at distance yet.)

I haven't loaded any 140s for my PRC yet. I did notice the fastest factory loads, Winchester 142 ABLR and the Federal 140 Tipped Fusion, neither load is even compressed.

For comparison, my Tikka in 6.5 WSM is pushing the 147 ELDM at 3160 MV over 68 grains of N565 in a factory 23" fluted 6.5 PRC barrel I had rechambered.

According to Gordon's (NOT PERFECT) at 20", 2.965 OAL, 59 grains of 565, and 153 A-Tip, MV should be around 2,904, well over max pressure in your PRC. 58.5 is over max at 2875 MV, and 57.5 is right at max at 2816 MV. So your results are about 100 fps +/- from the simulation.

With max load of 56 grains of 560, MV should be around 2817.

At a max load of 50 grains of RL16, and all other specs. the same, Gordons has MV at 2731.

The 6.5 CM load above at 43 grains of RL16 in a 20" barrel at 2.925 is over max pressure and yields 2681 MV according to Gordons. This is within 20 fps from @EthanL results.

and from what I can tell your reloading practices are sound.
My reloading practices used to be much more sound! I'm probably too casual now after reading this forum. I ended up loading 10 rounds at 58 grains of N565. I'll accuracy test on the next cool morning I have free.

Based on all the data so far for my PRC, I'm very interested to see terminal performance of the 142 ABLR and handload velos for the 143 ELD-X. One of those may end up being the sweet spot for this barrel.
