7mm WSM

Nope. I had a 23” barrel as well and those were 2975 with the same load. Neighter had pressure. If I recall I went up another .5g and saw some ejector marks so I came down a smidge.

162s were roughly 100fps more. Both barrels carbon 6.

WSM is great. With the fast powders it’s right on pace with 7PRC only ing a true short action and like 8gr less powder for same performance.

I had a browning x bolt 7mm wsm that I cut to 20” for a suppressor. Killed plenty of critters with it including elk and nilgai. Settled on a 160 grain accubond with 72 grains of magnum powder for 2900 fps. I picked up a 7mm SS barrel off here and it’s getting rebarreled and cut to 18”. About to sell some 7mm wsm brass and reloading supplies to make room for the Sherman.

Interested in that brass if you have some that’s once fired or new?

I have 150 pieces of new hornady brass, and 100+ pieces of multiple fired winchester brass. I am waiting to make sure my 7mm SS barrel gets installed correctly before listing it though. Should know something in a week or two.

7mm WSM in a Kimber Montana been my primary for almost ten years now. It's actually at the gunsmith in the lower 48 now getting a new tube installed and I am hoping to have it back this summer sometime. I kept the length at 24" factory dupe profile and shooting 162 AMAX and 162 ELD-X at 3050.

Anybody else shooting a short ish 7mm WSM?

I just chopped a Kimber Montana down to 20” for use with my suppressors. Fire forming loads with necked down 300 WSM brass from ADG are proving very accurate and the 162s are going just under 2900 with 162 ELDM. Recoil is incredibly mild with the Polonium 30 can. Overall I am very happy with the setup and can’t wait to carry it this fall..

Do you fireform your 300wsm brass first or just shoot it? I know the case is slightly longer on the 7 wsm case.

I had a 7 SAUM built a couple years ago due to lack of brass options for a SAUM and admittedly I didn't think of that being an option. If I had to do it again I think I would have done a 7-300 wsm for a bit more case capacity.
