7mm-08 Rem success on big game

My daughter shot her first elk last year at 362 yards, 140 gr Barnes TSX, Federal premium ammo. One shot kill.

Between her, my wife and my son, they've killed more than 20 whitetail bucks from between 75 and 250 yards, 1 black bear and 1 antelope at 425 yards. Most were shot with 140 gr Federal Fusion ammo. Several were killed with 120 gr Barnes TTSX ammo.

I just purchased another 7mm-08, now I have 3, it is a great cartridge.

When I look at load data for it doesn’t seem like there is another powder that really blows the doors of varget in the velocity department.
Seems varget is always the powder that comes up with that combo when someone mentions it.
I see all these loads for Stabull and CFE-223 but I haven't heard anything from anybody that's truly note worthy. Certainly not enough to make me consider changing from Varget.

Shot an elk at 330 yds. Dropped in its tracks. 140 gr. nosler Accubond. Hit the bull in the spine shooting off 1 knee. Bullet was recovered, and it had exceptional mushroom and weight retention. Factory Nosler ammo.

Christensen mesa 7mm-08 topped with an older illuminated vx3- 4-14 boone an crockett reticle.

My son shot his first buck also with the same rifle and ammo...265 yds...double lunger...buck only went 30 yds. 1 shot.
I love this caliber. Low recoil, exceptional accuracy, and plenty of knock down power out to 400 yds....thats all the further I need to shoot...

My favorite is an old pre '64 winchester 7x57 mauser...ballistically, very similar to the 7mm-08. You hardly notice the recoil...a joy to shoot and deadly accurate with barnes 145 lrx, 150gr. Sierra game kings and H4350
