162 gr eldm using 41-43 gr varget looks to be a pretty consistent turn key load. Looks like a lot of people are getting really low es and sd numbers with little effort.

Anybody down to hook a brother up with a dummy round 162 eldm or 168 berger. I need one for a custom wilson seater die

Actually just talked to Nick today cause I added a 7SAW barrel to my Cross order from them to tag along with the 6.5CM. Just waiting on the back ordered dies.

I’ve been working with H4350, but wasn’t happy with groups. ES numbers were very good, several loads below 10. But couldn’t get below 1” groups, and had random fliers. Most groups were closer to 1 1/2”. I was getting “crunch” from compression starting at 45.5 grains, which was giving me 2625 fps. I think the compression was causing my issues, so I wanted to try a faster powder.

Got my hands on some Varget last night. Ran a quick pressure test at 42-43 grains. This was the group. Heavy bolt at 43 grains with a light ejector swipe. Ghost of an ejector mark at 42.5

Needless to say, I think I’ll be able to find a load haha. I’ll do a quick Litz style seating depth test at 42gr, and should be done. (.010, .050, .090, .130) off Jam. 42gr gave me 2650 fps, with only 60 down the tube. Should speed up slightly

I ended up with the .313 bushing. The .311 they sent measured .0045 less than my loaded brass OD. I was looking for .002 neck tension.

395 yard shot, STEEP uphill. Dead centered a rib on entry and on exit. Bullet was just under the offside hide. Mid ship, just behind the shoulder. Exit was high, just under backstraps due to extreme angle. He went about 100 yards and tipped over. Sierra 165 TGK @ 2675 MV.

Nice bull!! The TGK is a bit tough for my preference, I have ~400 of same lot if you like the performance and are interested.

Great bull! Thanks for sharing. The 7 SAW looks like it fills a nice little gap above 7mm-08.

That is very encouraging!!! I have a barrel that I am going to try out in the upcoming months, very excited to see how it does.

The 7 saw definitely looks interesting. Not sure if it would negate some of the benefits, but can you rechamber a factory 7mm08 barrel to a 7 saw? Like an AI chambering.

You would need to set the barrel back quite a bit. 7 SAW pushes the shoulder back when making it steeper than the standard 08 shoulder. It’s smaller than a 7/08.
