I shot my 22 inch Carbon 6 7 prc last week. It has about 100 rounds through it. I was getting 2924 fps with 175 Eldx factory and 2945 fps with factory CX . This is with a suppressor as well. Accuracy has been great with all ammunition.

I was getting 2856 fps with the eld-m's and 2910 with the CX factory ammo in my CA Ridgeline FFT. I don't have a pic but i think the eld-x's were somewhere in between. My gun prefers the match ammo and will start reloading soon.

Thanks. Could you provide specs on barrel type and length? And how many rounds has the barrel been shot?

What's your elevation? My velocities were similar with the exact same rifle and similar shots down range - maybe a few less at the time I captured these speeds:
ELD-M 2865
ELD-X 2890
CX 2875 which seemed a hair slower then I expected based on your #s so will shoot over a chronograph again some time.

Elevation was around 4500 ft. And temps in 50s.

Edit to add: my rifle also prefers the match... Tho the CX looks like it might have some promise. ELD-X so far has been worst.

Hope it’s okay to ask but is anyone having overpressure issues with factory Hornady 7PRC?

I wish I had chrono’d mine.

Have not yet my my gunsmith said he had heard of other folks having issues and told me to check when I first start shooting a new box. Have you experience it yet?

Yes. I had stiff bolt lift and ejector marks with 175 eldx. Seems to be fairly common

Sadly so.

Brand new Savage 100 Ultralite with a 22” proof barrel.

I've seen a couple threads of folks measuring charge weight and there's been some inconsistencies.

I've had stiff bolt lift on maybe 4-5 out of 60 or so.

I've wondered how many of the Christensen rifles that got a bad wrap for 7 PRC were actually ammo related... mine has been accurate and most Hornady shots have been fine - but I've had a few stiff ones so can see what people are talking about.

Well it started with heavy bolt lift and ejector swipes on the brass and then I had those two blown primers. Both boxes were from the same lot. I’ve seen a few others post with same issue, including popped primers, but all were running CA rifles and all indicated Hornady was blaming CA. I have one box of precision hunter eldx to test and another on the way. Also ordered a set of dies and a case gauge. I ordered some Federal 175 eldx direct from Federal so I’m hoping that actually shows up.

I’ll have to set up a chrono for the rest of these but with the eldm’s I had two distinct groupings with the same POA - enough that I’d discount myself. Makes some sense if others are seeing inconsistent powder charges and being so hot. I guess.

I’m glad to know that maybe not every lot is this way. I did contact Hornady and they’ve issued an RMA for the remaining 180 Match so they can test pressures but their rep told me that Lot had an average of 62k psi.

Currently I’m inclined to think the issue is the ammo and not the rifle. Hoping we don’t have to wait too much longer for more options or a resolution from Hornady.

Here is a post my buddy sent me back in (I think) April

Yeah… I wish I would’ve chronod every shot, it’d be nice to be able to quantify.

I’m glad to see you guys have all had a fair bit downrange without issue though.
