Long story short I've been kicking around the idea of a custom rifle for a years but life lifes and it never came together. I am thoroughly interested in a 6mm Creedmoor and would love to build one. Not looking to go balls to the wall with the build but something economical with quality components. Any recommendations on barrel, action, and stock (prefer a more sporter style stock)?

Tikka 8 twist 243, set back and rechamber for 6 creed. Thread the end. Do any cosmetics you may want in regards to bolt or barrel fluting. Bed in a quality McMillan, Stockys, Manners stock (or chassis if thats your thing) Cerakote it the colors you want and you will have a top shelf rifle.

Great way to roll. I’d even go as far as to say, if the throating is adequate to shoot the bullets you want to focus on, I’d skip the punch out and just run the 243. Save the 300 bucks for components. This is a solid way into a cheap, accurate rig

Mine is a semi custom built on a SA Rem 700, TT trigger, 20in Proof barrel, McMillan Varmint model stock. Nothing to fancy just a solid semi custom build with good parts.

Tikka would be a good factory action to build off of.

If you list a budget it will help guys point you in the right direction!

Anymore you have a ton of R700 clones to pick from - zermatt big horn origin or aero solus would be great cheaper options. Lots of guys on here will suggest tikka and nothing wrong going that route either - price will be similar.

Nice 20” barrel if you want to shoot supressed - if not you could add some inches. Lots of great options for cut rifle blanks also. For me it always comes down to availability what I end up ordering (some lead times can be long). Carbon is always an option if you want it but it’s just more $$.

R700 clones the stock options are endless and tikka is pretty close. Prices range from a few hundred to $1600+.

I would not mind a rebarrel at all with a tikka the way things go with me that would be the best or as someone mentioned earlier a Tikka 243 and set back. Honestly I want the performance so I'd probably opt for a 24'' barrel.

I built one last year. I was going to go the tikka route but to me it was more economical to build off of a zermatt origin where I could swap bolt faces for future builds. That's my 3rd origin build and I'm working on my 4th. It's addictive. It did some work this year.

If I go go full custom route the actions I would look at would be the origin, Mac bros element and evo 2, kelbly atlas lite, kauger vpr or elite, and defiance classic

Only one of those is CRF, mechanical ejector, and has a swappable bolt face. I knew i preferred the swappable bolt face and CRF but I didnt know how much I'd like the mechanical ejector and now I'm spoiled.

My second choice would be the Kelbly. Check PBB, they had some barreled action deals with the Kelbly that were good deals. 22CM was the last i saw so I don't know if you can find the deal on a 6CM. However, the 6CM is the gateway drug to a 22CM so you could skip that step.

I did a tikka PVA 6 CM prefit and it shoots 3/4” 10 shot groups, and I don’t consider myself a great shooter. The guys at PVA were awesome to work with!

If you like to tinker I found it a lot of fun to assemble the rifle.
