Where did you find the Taylor Stratton videos?

Not sure what you’re referencing but I’ve watched a bunch of his videos. Unfortunately I think most were on Facebook.

To me, I really don't see much of a difference. If you're stuck shooting factory ammo, the 6 CM is your obvious answer. Otherwise, pick one and go with it.

I went with the 6 CM and it's been great.

I was on the fence between 6CM and 6GT and went 6GT on my CTR rebarrel. I like the better barrel life of the 6GT and it hits a sweet spot between 6ARC and 6CM. My goal is to shoot 108 ELDMs over Varget out of a 20" suppressed barrel for about 2800-2850 FPS. That should deliver terminal velocities out to 700 yards. More than enough range I plan on shooting at game.

If CTR mags dont feed reliably, I've heard the 3 round Tikka M mag feeds 6GT great. I will just throw my CTR in an Echo chassis and get a mag retention spring.

@General RE LEE I would think it would work from ctr mags. If not I’ve had good luck with the M mags and my 22GT.

I’ve often contemplated buying a 6GT prefit, but think I’ll just do a short barrel 6.5 creed for the rare times I need more than 22. Let us know how that GT shoots, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the 22 tiger, looking fwd to using it some more this coming fall.

Alright I’m looking at building either a 6mm creedmoor or 6mm gt for the daughters first hunting rifle. Only reason I’m not looking at 243 is it seems these other two are easier to find brass anymore. So let’s hear the pros and cons of the 6mm creedmoor vs the 6mm gt. Will be a short barrel build no longer than 20” and being ran suppressed

6CM will give you more impact velocity with the shorter barrel than the GT. Barrel life is the only advantage the GT has, IMO.

6 gt you can run well h4350 and Varget how powder is getting that is a pro. Mags are not really an issue now mdt make 6gt or grey ops aw 6gt mag if you have $$.

I intend for this build to be something that is enjoyable to shoot, and something for my wife and son to take out on hunts. I am thinking I would like to run the 108 ELDM or Elite Hunter's at 2800-2850 MV out of a 20" barrel.

For what it’s worth I sold my 20” 6creed when I got my 6GT. You can get plenty of velocity with a GT utilizing 105-110 class bullets and the animals I’ve shot with the GT haven’t complained about the different headstamp on the brass.

Factory 6GT ammo is readily available now days loaded with 109 ELDM’s and my handloads using the same bullet are interchangeable so if I run out of handloaded ammo I can shoot factory in a pinch with no ill effects.

6mm GT has a 1% larger case capacity to bore area ratio than that of 6.5 CM. I suspect barrel will also be similar.

If you want 2800+ from a 20in, get the 6cm. The gt load will be warm at that velocity with a 20in barrel. I have a 22in 6gt running 109 Bergers at 2830 with 34.4gr ts15.5 which is similar to varget. Hard to say what pressure I'm at as the alpha brass is tough as hell, but it's likely pretty warm, as this is Hodgdon data with 108 eldm(which has way more bearing than a 108 Berger).

If barrel life is of no concern and it's a true hunting rifle where it won't see 1,000 + rounds fire, then 6 creed is fine.
Anything more and I'd go 6 GT.

Also keep in mind what's the easiest thing to find brass or factory ammo for.
