Nice - I feel good about that. That's the standard 20" heavy barrel right? Any idea on weight - no big deal if you don't. I'm wondering if the barreled action would end up being similar in length to a 700 LA with an 18" barrel - since the howa mini will have a longer barrel but smaller action. Probably something I could figure out with internet sleuthing on the length of the howa mini action

A Mini barreled action with an 18” barrel is 24 3/4” overall. The 18” barrel dimension is bolt face to end of barrel.

As it sits there, with the Huron and Harris, it scaled right at 7.5#. Heavy little bugger but feels real solid and it shoots good. Yes, this is the shorter heavy barrel version.

After 320 rounds, I’ve settled on the load my 22” sporter barrel Howa Mini likes.

108 ELDM
26.5 grains Varget
2670 FPS

Something I’ve learned about my 22” sporter barrel. 2-3 rounds will group sub MOA, but shots 4 or 5 will have a flyer bringing group to 1-1.5”. If I let barrel cool 3 minutes between shots, I can get sub MOA 10 shot groups. So basically the sporter is heat sensitive.

It’s a hunting rifle so I’ve only take 2 shots at a deer a couple of times.

Thanks for the reminder to revisit Varget!
Howa Mini 20" Carbon Barrel

105 Berger VLD
27.0 gr Varget
2620 fps

Need to shoot some 5 shot groups for confirmation but accuracy is great on this load and ES is single digits.

Awesome! Yeah my problem with Lever is I don’t want 40-50 FPS swings during hunting season. I’d rather load Varget and take a hit on the velocity.

Couldn’t wait and switched my Howa mini barreled action in 6arc to the sporter style that came in stock first at Brownells. Brownells matched the discounted price I had the HB on backorder for so can’t complain. And sorta glad for the lighter barrel now although I haven’t seen/held the HB. The bottom “metal” and mag were the updated design with recessed mag release. Fit it in a stockys VG. EGW pic rail. Down Range Products 1/2 adapter ( it’s nice, shipped fast - will buy from them again). Man really like that stock and the grip. I did have to do a fair amount of barrel channel sanding but might should have bedded the action first and probably will. But with the Rokslide discount it’s a great stock and Stockys was responsive. I’m happy with it. Nice and light. And now to get out and shoot it! I can already tell it’s going to be a popular one at my house and my 14yo daughter pretty much claimed it…Probably should have picked up 2 actions!

I have the 22”’ Sporter version. Great little rifle that can shoot sub MOA in 5 shot groups to a little over MOA with 15 shot groups.

Every barrel has a personality but mine doesn’t like to get too hot. It’s a hunting rifle so accurate 2-3 shot strings is fine. Groups open up with 5 + shot strings.

Thats not a personality. It's an inanimate object. That's called a defective barrel.

Wow I’ve looked at the 6arc before but after buying some Hornady match 108 today and comparing to my 30.06, 7-08 and 223 - that’s a short little round! Looking forward to shooting it

Very cool been wanting to put one together too. What code are you using for the stock? I tried the old ROKSLIDE30 and it didnt work.

That’s the one I used - the stock was out of stock- haha - so it was a few weeks for me to get it which wasn’t a big deal to me because I was waiting for the barreled action anyways. I had several communications with stockys and they were really responsive. I’d just reach out to them and see if they’re still offering it. I got the black with grey web and like it a lot.
