Best part of the program, and our subsequent success, is listening to Jr perfect the art of “hunters embellishment”. 400 yards, not 40. Could only see his eye, not his whole chest. Running hip shot, not kneeling…good stuff! He’s pumped and wants me to burn my 14 points for him next year - I kinda think I might.

Here’s a weird one. 109 ELDM exit wound. Didn’t find impact, I’m thinking it was the uphill hard quarting away shot aimed at posterior ribs towards offside shoulder. Golf ball size hole through ribs into front shoulder. Carried grass from the stomach all the way to the offside hide.

I may be misreading this, so I’m just clarifying. You couldn’t find the entry hole on a deer you shot?

I don’t find the entry hole from the 2nd shot when bull turned to go over a hill, I did see blood shot section along the abdomen , but didn’t pinpoint entry. To me the explanation is that I may have ruptured the diaphragm w shot 1, shot 2 obviously went through stomach from rear to front and exited front left shoulder. Was wild how much grass was pushed through chest wall and then through the shoulder.

I forgot I had these ones from last year that I could add to this thread. I didn't know about this thread until this year and hadn't thought about these until today.

First one is a cow elk my wife killed last year at 435 yards. Ruger American 6mm Creedmoor, 105 Berger VLD-H going about 2950 at the muzzle. Cow was only one separated slightly from a large group and only shot was quartering to us fairly hard as they were about to run off. The wife put the bullet perfectly on the point of the shoulder. I could tell she hit her, but then she ran into the middle of the herd and I lost her in the shuffle. Cow ran about 40 yards and dropped dead. Didn't do an autopsy but I could tell when gutting her that the bullet had done a tone of damage and worked perfectly.



The weekend prior to my wife's cow elk I was able to help a cousin on his kids' Coues tags. We found a buck bedded at 430 yards and his son was finally able to find him and shoot him in his bed. Buck never moved an inch and died where he laid. Bullet passed completely through. This caused another buck we didn't know about that was hidden in the dense brush to jump to his feet and step out right next to the first buck. We quickly got his daughter on the buck, and she was able to smash him also at 430 yards. Buck jumped and ran about 10 yards and fell over dead. Complete pass through on this buck as well. Ruger American 6mm creed 105 Berger VLD-H.

Killed a mature whitetail this week. Shot him with a 16” 6cm and 95gr TMK’s… impact velocity of about 2700.. he was perfectly broadside and impact was right at the crease on the back of his shoulder. He ran maybe 40 yards but was dead on his feet. Bullet penetrated all the way through him and the jacket was stuck between offside shoulder and hide.

Killed a mature muley today. Springfield waypoint 6 Creed and factory 108s. Shot was 330, impact velocity around 2395 according to Shooter app. Seated, using my pack as the rest. He was quartering away heading up out of a draw. Saw him mule kick in the scope (don't think I would have seen that with my 280ai or my 25-06). He bolted approx 30-40yds tipped over. The other bucks with him ran a bit then stopped, were very confused, I love hunting with suppressors. Bonus, my Scythe didn't blow up.

Entrance. Few ribs forward of back rib cage. Bullet fragment under skin. Entrance a little bigger than caliber.


Exit. 1.5" exit hole. Another exit hole lower. Bone (rib) fragments under shoulder. I didn't notice an exit through the skin but I honestly didn't look that hard. No internal inspection because as I was moving him around there was a lot of fluid swishing inside the chest cavity. Excuse the debris in the last picture, I had to flip him back over to look at the exit again.

PBB 16” 7twist … shoots everything good. Factory 108eld, factory sig 100gr tipped , hand load 108s , hand load 95 NBT’s and hand loaded 95 tmk.

Kill 6 with Tikka 6 Creed and 115 Berger.

8 Point Wyoming Buck.
Yardage: 307
Impact Velocity: Roughly 2,200.
Shot Position: Prone.
Distance travelled After Hit: 40 yards, tripped over a stump down a steep draw and collapsed.
Impact Location: Entered between 5th and 6th rib. Quartered away. Exited and broke 3rd and 4th ribs. Bullet clearly visible from the outside lodged in the offside hide.

First blood on the Tikka today. Had a nice buck pushing a doe but I couldn't ever get him to stop and it's pretty thick where I was. Spike was trailing to see what the commotion was and I went ahead and took him. Hornady precision hunter so 90gr eldx and basically point blank (30 yards. Deer went about 30 yards and died. Shot was a touch back but he was quartered so still blew up offside lungs. Followable blood trail but wasn't needed as I saw him drop. Pic order is entry then exit.

Yardage: 316.
Impact Velocity: Roughly 2,200.

Shot Position: Seated supported. Steep uphill angle.

Distance travelled After Hit: Big double leg kick reaction. Spun around in pain. Tried to walk forward about 15 yards and stumbled over a downed tree and died.

Impact Location: Entered 3rd rib and broke it clean off. Slightly low hit on slightly quartered away deer. Half of broadside lung missing. Heart laying loose in the chest cavity, bullet passed through. Exited the offside “crease” and exited the hide. Large blood trail and massive blood pool by the time we got to the animal.

16” barrel has them around 2,600, still settling in though and will speed up.

My son shot a nice sized doe at 165y with a 90gr TGK. Ruger american ranch 16” 6mm ARC @ 2769FPS. High shoulder shot, Bang Flop.

Didnt have time to take pictures of the wound channel but less damage than the 108Eldm. Overall solid performance and will keep hunting with them for closer shots. The jackets on those things are thick so long range performance may not be great.

The few I have seen have produced pretty narrow wounds below 2,500’ish FPS.

Something I actually wanted to ask about. The current load for my 6 PRC doesn’t line up with quick drop. I’m guessing there are gaps where it doesn’t work?

Correct. Very high MV makes it challenging.
