Same bullet? How did it hold together at that range?

Yes same bullet, clean pass through. I didn’t really have the chance to evaluate much. I was solo and it was shot at last light so I got to working on it quickly.

First season hunting with this setup and it’s proving to be an extremely accurate and effective setup. Shot a bull elk a few weeks ago at 35 yards and he also dropped where he stood.

103 ELDX is, I think, the most slept on bullet in the 6mm family. It’s been incredibly consistent and effective for me since Hornady introduced it.

My only hickup with the ELDX bullets is they have never shot very good for me in my reloads. I have tried the 143 and the 103. I can consistently get the ELDM's in those calibers to shoot better. Have any of you guys figured out a secret to get them to shoot well?

Don’t try to squeeze every last drop of velocity out of them and shoot good/known steel barrels.

103s nearly always shoot well in Tikka/Sako barrels.

Have you run the 90s at all? With your cartridge, it probably doesn't make a ton of sense, but thought I'd ask as it seems like a better option in the 6x45 @ 2.325 max OAL. 103s might work in that setup, but have no real idea.

Oh yeah. I’ve shot the 90s out of 243s and still do. Tons of kills with them. Excellent bullet.

3120 fps impact velocity

Bullet made soup of lungs, only a small fragment exited the offside

Bull walked about 5 yards and stood facing away for about 20 seconds before collapsing

This has inspired me to take my dad’s youth model .243 out to chase whitetails. Not sure of MV, and don’t have access to a chronograph.

My shots will be limited to sub 100yd, likely never further than 60yd. I’m new to the match bullet game, my initial thought is to use the 90gr eldx. But with that range in mind would I be better served with a ttsx? Assuming all group well.

Faster than a 10 but slower than a 9.
I’ve gotten varied outcomes with a cleaning rod from 9.125, 9.5, 9.75. Thanks

FUDD's world wide will start buying them for their grandson's 10 twist 243 because "the kid likes the red tipped bullets...". Then when junior misses a slam dunk shot on a BOL but hits the neighbors cow 2 properties over they will come online and swear that due to the extra 3 grains they don't shoot well and tumble out of the barrel.

I did not load that ammo. It was loaded from UM and was loaded way under, close to what a factory load would be.

I’ve shot the 103s, 95 SSTs, 90 ELDX, and 87 SSTs out of slower twist barrels. 10 twist shot them all just fine.

So disappointing. You really got my hopes up!!

Surely they'd sell like hotcakes if they did load these. Any ideas on why they don't?
