How are the groups with the TAP? I’ve never been able to get them (in factory loads, I don’t reload) to group very well.
I believe it was @wind gypsy that got them shooting pretty well in his set up as well as a few others. If I’m not mistaken a few have got them to shoot 1/2-3/4moa groups. Best I could do with too slow of a twist was 1.2-1.4moa at 100.

They do alright...this is a 1.2 MOA rifle in a 10+ shot group. This particular rifle isn't a "shooter" but it'll do well for my needs at killing deer. I think I'm going to drop down to a lighter bullet and save the tougher 106s for a 6GT or 6CM

1.2 moa ain’t bad for a ‘police’ bullet. In my rifles, they do around 1.75-2.25 moa, and the -X, -M and Black all are moa or better.

I guess it’s like the Federal 223T3 FBI loads, the bullets are designed for terminal performance not match-grade groups.

I've been meaning to try some 95, 103, or 108s out of sheer curiosity to see if there's a bit of room for accuracy improvement. Having about 1200 of these 106s that Midway had on sale last winter makes them the ideal bullet for lots of shooting...very cheap. I considered grabbing a 243 with a 1:8 twist but it seems the places I'm finding the Tikka sales are 1:10.

How many of you 'sliders are shooting a Ruger American Gen II in 6mm Creedmoor? I have a RAP Gen 1 in 6mm Creedmoor and it shoots great. Found a new RAP Gen 1 at great price and a Ruger American Gen 2 with the 20" barrel for about $30 more. Is the Gen 2 with it to get a 20" barrel?

I’m not shooting either of those but if you are shooting suppressed I would go for the shorter barrel for that small of a price difference personally.

My ffl is waiting for them to be in stock at rsr to order. “Grab a gun” has them in stock for $550, but my ffl has already been paid to order one when he can. I have the genII ranch 5.56. It’s a bit clunky but functional, and I haven’t put groups on paper yet. Today is the last day of hunting season so I may shoot it on paper real soon. I have a maven/rings, suppressor adaptor, and a timney waiting for the 6creed.

These are the first deer I’ve killed with anything smaller than a 6.5 Creed. 243 win loaded fairly conservatively with a 95 grain ballistic tip, about 2,850 muzzle velocity.
The doe was shot right at 100 yds, she spun in a circle and was down. The buck was somewhere around 275 yds. The shot took his heart out and the offside hide caught what was left of the bullet. He made it about 10 feet from where he was hit.
Very impressed with this little gun, and being able to spot impact at such close range and being ready for a follow up shot if necessary has me pretty sold.

Sent you a pm. The G2 is $490 and the G1 is $455. I can't even buy a prefit barrel for a Tikka for those prices!

First kill for my 6 ARC Howa Mini Action. Used the factory 103 ELDX @ 2614 fps mv. Shot a river bottom whitetail buck on public 10 minutes before end of shooting light at about 200 yards. Hit behind onside shoulder and exited off side behind diaphragm without touching guts the way he was quartered to me. Went around 25 yards after the shot. Little blood on the ground except for the last 10 feet before it dropped. One lung had a hole and the other one was liquid and just shredded. Liver was torn in half but I did not see any bullet damage. Lots of blood on both sides of the diaphragm when gutted. Did not have anyone to help with pictures as my daughter and wife walked back to get the sled to drag the deer out while I pulled the guts out. I'll see if I can grab a few of the interior when we hang it.

Serious question with no ill intent, how come you skinned it like this and why is there so much dirt/hair on the carcass?
It’s all good! The “dirt” is black pepper. I put it on the outside of the carcass to keep the birds off while I continued hunting with my son. The skinning job is legitimately terrible partially from doing the work in the dark, partially because my 12yo son helped and it was his first go.

I’ve never heard of spicing the carcass to keep the pests away. That’s pretty smart!

Makes perfect sense. Thank you for the response. Pepper isn’t the worst substitute for a game bag I could think of, and I’ve left them at home once or twice.
