6 yr old Muley Buck

This is a good exhibit of how rifle hunting rutting mule deer is.. too easy? Walking up to a deer in the wide open and shooting him while he's bedded in the wide open.

Hope my click added to your happiness Justin.

It’s pretty ironic to me you guys seem to have no problem with posting pictures of big bucks, that a someone killed, along with the state they killed it in all over the forums, but you’ll come after a guy who posts the exact same thing but in video format. Sounds like what we all need to do is get off the Internet forms and never share anything. That way no non-resident will ever see what we kill and have an idea that “hey that guy killed a nice buck ain’t whatever state so now I should go hunt there”. Y’all are crazy.
If you posted the same pics/story across multiple forums for back pats you'd probably get joked on too. But thats on a different level than producing videos and trying to drive traffic to them.

I carefully trailed him for almost a mile, and watched him for sometime before he bedded, so not sure what your point is. I guess I just should’ve not shot him?

He was a six-year-old deer that had been through a lot of hunting seasons in a pressured area, so apparently up to that point it must not have been too easy to get him on the ground.

Its pretty clear your intentions aren't to "scrapbook" atleast have the balls to own it. You wouldnt post it over a dozen forums every time you make a video if it wasn't for clicks and likes. Meanwhile never posting or adding anything meaningful or useful in any other thread.

Nice try though!

Did you not say in your video it was in the wide open so you were just going to walk after him in the wide open?

My point is not intended to be a criticism of you shooting him at all. I sure wouldn't avoid shooting something because it is making a dumb mistake! Just an observation that rutting muleys are pretty dang vulnerable.

Maybe. Or luck.

I watch more fishing content than hunting but what I come across pretty often are videos that show parking lots, trailheads, signs, lots of different recognizable scenery etc. Some video creators just flat out say where they are too.

I can replicate someone's entire trip based on some of their videos and if I can so can 200 or 2,000 other motivated people. Some videos taken in places I like to hunt and fish have over 100k views so you know a percentage of those viewers are going to actually visit the spots in these videos and increase usage of those areas. You're right though, a lot of photos also show places that people can find, not arguing with that at all.

I agree. However, you'll never see that on in video I post. I am very careful to film anything that would give someone intel on where I hunt. In fact I don't even say what state I am hunting.

Yep. It was a highly unusual situation that I wasn't sure was going to work out. Initially I thought he was just going up to the coulees to bed, and I wasn't even sure he was a buck I wanted to shoot, but I got a good enough look at his frame that I wanted to get e better look and a chance to study him. I spend a significant amount of time in the field every year, and am fortunate to work and live where I hunt. I have learned some tactics that most wouldn't even try, and this was one of them. I was surprised he never looked back over his shoulder for that amount of distance, but I knew it was a risk worth taking. When I finally caught up to him it made since that he had been so laser focused, as the wind had been blowing form the group of does to him. I wouldn't;t disagree that killing a rutted up muley with a rifle is not high up on the degree of difficulty, but I would make the same argument for hunting elk and whitetails in the rut as well. I killed a 170" whitetail a couple miles from where I killed this buck, at 25 yards on the ground during the rut. He was with a hot doe, and I crept in on them. He must have saw some movement from the top of my head, and walked right up to me to check me out. Elk are as dumb as rocks during the rut as well. So, I would say that all animals are pretty dang vulnerable during the rut, hence the reason most guys save up their vacation time to hunt the rut.

So you track every single thing I post in every other forum? Wow, you got a lot of time on your hands! ,just be nice!

So if I post on 50 other threads a day you would be fine with me posting a video? Furthermore, I would argue that it is meaningful, as like I mentioned earlier, a lot of guys, myself included, enjoy watching a hunting video from a regular guy, as opposed to other means of entertainment.

The irony of a bunch of guys on a place like Rokslide, a forum that contributes more research for non-residents than most, and a place where tons high tech gadgets, gear, and gismos are promoted is not lost on me. not to mention all the "other forums you all apparently visit as well. Internet forums like this one contribute as much or more so to the problems you guys are whining about as much as a YT video does. Last time I checked we live in the good ol' US of A and you don't have to respond or click on something you don't like or agree with.

Nice deflection. You certainly dont have to admit your intentions but we all can see what you are doing. The fact that you can't tell what you are doing is unpopular here shows your lack of involvement with the forum.

Well, considering most of my hunts take place on private land. I’m not too worried about that.
Unless you own that land, I’d be a touch worried someone is gonna lease it out from under you… it’s what happens when we blow up areas of a state, but maybe you can get some nice camo coats and hats out of the deal before you have to slum it on public with the rest of us

I appreciate that, but zero chance of that happening with these landowners that live around me. They are about as opposed to leasing as any folks I’ve ever seen. They want total control over who hunts, and I guess in some ways I understand that.

Just wait, it will happen.

Doesn't need to be an outfitter and people they don't know. Lots of people will pay lot of money to have places to themselves.

Well, anything certainly possible. I’ve lived in this area for a while now, and anytime I’ve broach led the topic with any of these landowners, it is a very contentious topic, and they shut it down so fast it’s not even funny. If leasing happens, I guess I’ll cross that bridge at that time, but I think I’m in the clear for now. The property I shot that button on they don’t really let almost anyone hunt, and I’ve had to do some help on the ranch and other effort to make it happen.

Actually we don't like that either. We're tired of every last bit of attention seeking, self-serving, exploitation of hunting. The effects of it are now clear and undeniable; it's a trend that is going to create scarcity over the long term.
There are other things we enjoy that aren't damaging; tactics, gear, wildlife policy, terminal ballistics, etc. The self promoting content is quickly becoming the leprosy of hunting.

Well, a guy posting a video shooting a nice buck that he’s proud of, with no location info, or even state, (that he shot in as a resident) is not the problem. What’s creating scarcity is the over abundance of tags that the fish and game departments continue to give out year after year. That and guys, and guys posting data and i fo that used to be hard to come by, (something you find a lot of on these forms as well) but in the end, it’s a free country last time I checked if you don’t like it you don’t have to click on it or support it in anyway. Don’t need to be a hater on top. I’m wasting my breath with you and you’re wasting your breath with me. You’re not changing my mind and I’m not changing yours so let’s just leave it at that. I will continue to post videos of me and my kids and a select group of friends and family shooting animals and enjoy it for what it is. Those who wish to click on it and enjoy watching it can do so and those of you who don’t want to watch it don’t have to. I haven’t hurt or harmed you personally in anyway. As for me posting on these forums, I do actually post other content as well, but you wouldn’t know that. Additionally, it’s not taking up memory space on your hard drive so don’t worry aboutit. I choose to post what I want, and you get to choose want you want to talk about. Pretty simple.
