6 UM or 6-7PRC?

Talked with UM end of last week. Confirmed everything and they are supposed to chamber this week. RokStock should be arriving soon so maybe I'll have it for hunting season.

Man, if I were you I’d recommend going 6prc, 6 Saum or if you have to have the horsepower 6um. 6-7prc isn’t it I don’t think. Too much extra powder for no gain. If I could do it again I’d go straight 6prc I think.

It really isn't that much more powder. I didn't want the extra screwing around and cost of custom dies. Normally I'd jump right at the 6UM but was trying to keep the price down on this one.
It'll be slinging a 90 grn HHT from a 26" 1:7 barrel so it won't be slow. If I don't like it I can always order another barrel and change it.

Not sure where mine is but should be soon for the biuld. Cerakote adds about 9 weeks after it's biult. Tempting to not do that but I think I'll stick with it for now.

When did you guys order?
I ordered in February.

Just wondering if you’ve had your hands on your 6-7PRC yet? I don’t see any thread specific to this cartridge. I’m still waiting for mine to show up. (Ordered mid-January 2024). A couple of weeks ago the stock was being painted & coated, so I’m hopeful it won’t be long know! Certainly interested in starting loads and the like? I have 500 D-Tacs (115 gr. w/nose rings) waiting for take-off! Thanks for any input.

For the record, I talked to Blaine on Thursday about a 6mm barrel and he said he had to help you neck those down.

I'm really liking it. My 14 year daughter is shooting it well also.
I'm running the 90HHT in a 26" 7 twist @3560 right now with a full case at 71 gr of N570. I've got more out of it but was having trouble with RL26 giving good ES. Out of a 5 shot string I'd get one crazy one. I wasn't set up with the right bushings for neck tension. I eventually made an expanding mandrel that got it better with the N570.
Eventually I'll play with RL26 again and a crimp die and see what I can do.
I'm really liking that RokStock. I'm planning to biuld a couple more rifles on that stock and the Tikka action. Hopefully one of the UM clones when they get them out.

They are making a custom action that is a tikka clone instead of a Rem 700 footprint. I don’t think they have announced a release date yet.

Curious to know more of the details assuming they'd vary from tikka spec on some things.. Like an impact or origin barrel tennon spec would be nice for example.

In the Shoot2hunt podcast they have made mention of a Tikka bolt with changeable bolt face and a clone Tikka action that is coming. Probably in 2026
