6 PRC with N570

First time testing N570 in the 6PRC, and I haven’t seen anyone else test it yet either. So figured I’d share.

A full case is 61gr. so that’s what I loaded up. I know H1000 doesn’t pressure out until 58-59gr. in this barrel, so I knew 61gr. N570 would be safe.

Built by @barehandlineman at High Voltage Armory with a .200 freebore reamer.

This gives me hope for my 22" 6 PRC in process! Wow you really have that bullet hanging out there though. I seated a few testers around 2.850" COAL with the boat tail/bearing surface at the base of the neck. How is your neck tension set? Doesn't seem to mind in regards to accuracy!

I shoot everything with .001 NT now and it seems to shoot well and seating bullets feels very consistent as opposed to when I used to run more NT.

What speeds were you getting with the h1000? Going to be building a 6prc but with a 16.5” barrel to run suppressed. Just not excited about n570 barrel life.

Out of a 24” barrel I was running mild at 57gr. H1000 and 3150 FPS after the barrel sped up. 58gr. is still not an absurd charge, pressure wise, and delivers about 3190-3200fps out of a 24” barrel

Nice!! I ordered a new mountaineer LR also. It showed up yesterday. They messed up and made me a standard mountaineer. Stupid of them to have such close names between such vastly different stocks. It was their fault 100% and they’re expediting me a new correct stock.

If you can reach pressure with 570, it’s always faster than 565. 565 runs closer to H1000. I’m sure it would perform fine in that 58-59gr. range and produced 3200+- FPS

Just trued up those 109 ELDM’s at 1000 yards. Using the advertised .295 G7 BC, the centerline of my group was 3” above the bullseye. I shot 9 shots, and they held 4” of vertical dispersion. So the data is decently solid. Have to add 20 FPS to my data to actually bring the group down.

A 6mm .295 G7 BC bullet going 3300+fps is pretty legit.

Oh sweet!! What the max case capacity on that 6 SST?

I think right around 70 H20 capacity. Should be very similar in case capacity to a 6 PRC. SST has a little longer neck, and a little more body taper blown out. I anticipate a hair more velocity than a PRC and a hair less velocity than a UM. I ordered the first one I could get brass and dies at the same time for and the SST was in stock or I would have gone with the PRC or even a 6 SAUM.

Yeah I do man. But it’s a 700 footprint, so it’ll be a while I think. They have a pile of tikka inlets to fill
