6 prc brass

I'm going to be necking down 6.5 PRC to 6 PRC wondering what size bushing to use.

Depends how thick the necks are on the 6.5 brass and how much neck tension you want. Also, my sole experience with simple neck down wildcats was to doing the neck down in 2 or 3 steps with progressively smaller bushings to avoid ruining brass and keeping it a little more concentric.

Fwiw Im using a .268 SAC bushing and necking ADG down in 1 step with no issues then opening up to .271 with a mandrel.

Did you have to buy the SAC die?
No I'm using a redding type S bushing die. I wanted the SAC die to use the tapered bushing for the shoulder to help prevent doughnuts but haven't had an issue with adjusting the die down far enough. Money well saved at this point...
.271 Mandrel or .241?
Yes I didnt explain that clearly 2 toddlers with ear infections have my brain a little fried! I use the 21st century expander mandrel die body with a .241 mandrel that happens to bring the neck OD to .271 iirc.

I would have to double check what my neck is. I used the sac and did have to cut doughnuts

Dumb question… could one use a Lee 6mm collet die to neck from 6.5 to 6? Substantially cheaper to do so compared to bushing dies and bushings

Anyone figure out if this would work?

There might be some creative way to do this but would take some experimenting or further research. A sized piece of 6.5 creedmoor does not fit in the neck of my 6mm creedmoor collet. You would likely need a step between the two.

And i wonder how concentric it would be if not using a collet sized to the case body and sizing that much.
