I'm looking to build my next predator rifle and I'm leaning towards building a 6 dasher. I'm looking for any input on folks that have been running the light varmint bullets and with what barrel length? My second question is about next turning the 6 dasher brass. is that only for when using 6 br brass? If i buy head stamped 6 dasher brass all is good?

With light varmint bullets the dasher will give you plenty of speed. Question is how long are you going to run your barrel, and are you considering suppressed?

In regards to brass, just buy Alpha and be done. I'd recommend running detachable mags for excellent feeding--either the MDT 6BR mags or the Hawkins Hunter mags with spacer kit. Hawkins if you want a flush mag.

That said you could just run a 6 Creed and make things a little more simple.

Id like a shorter handy rifle but if i need to go long its not the end of the world and unfortunately i don't have the opportunity to run suppressed. Ill be going mdt mags for sure with their new bottom metal. 6 creed is definitely more simple but there is something about that short case that does it for me

Did you ever end up doing this? Have been thinking about a suppressed 16.5" 6 Dasher for a truck gun shooting 87s or 95s.

I think the neck turning has more to do with which reamer you use and how tight the neck is. There are different reamers for a “no turn” neck. I think my reamer is .270 or bigger, I can’t remember off the top of my head.

Here is the finished product!

-EM Pulse action (Curtis Scout) with switch lug
-26” 8 twist ibi carbon hunter barrel chambered in 6bra
-Manners LRH stock in the high plains camo
-MDT precision bottom metal
-MDT premier rings
-2.5-20x50 Nightforce NX-8
-Trigger tech special with skeletonized shoe

That’s a beauty of a build! Now that you’ve had it for a month, how are you liking everything in your setup? Anything you would change if you did it again?

Awesome build!!! It looks the part, how does it shoot? I actually just put in my order this week for a 16.5" Dasher, will be interested to see how it does.

Sorry for the slow reply! I’m quite happy with the rifle for the most part, unfortunately the light bullets are gunna work as good as I hoped. I need the rifle to feed well when out hunting and short coal just isn’t the play for that even with magazine adjustments and mag latch adjustments. So I’ve been shooting the 105 Berger vld hunting and 108eldms for the most part and the eldm’s seem to be what this rifle likes! It also shot the 80 eld-vts well

16” Howa mini 6Dasher:

95gr TMK 34gr Varget 2.32” oal 2815fps average.

87gr vmax 2960fps 35gr Varget.

Less than 20 shots down the tube.

I’ll know more when @Bert01 ships it to me!

Gun should finish at 7lbs with optic and suppressor.
