Be ready for that 26 to go wild on you. I bought a couple 8 pounders and felt like I had it figured out.....then out of the blue a load that showed no signs of over pressure started blowing primer pockets out of the brass.

I'm scared to take it past published velocities by more than 5% or so.
I don't run it that hard, that's just as high as I went in testing. I typically find ejector marks and back it off a grain. I run 44.5gr with 112s in my 18in barrel at 2950. I was able to get up to 3100 with 47gr before getting psi signs.

I've been there myself.....and then something changed. It happened in a 260ai and a 243.

Are you one those guys that doesn't clean your barrel? I'm not a member of that occult. I watch my velocity. If it goes up on avg by 30fps over my know info without any major temperature change, I clean the throat.

You and I are similar. It was taking me about 300 rounds to carbon up my 260ai.....the 243 only had about 200 down the tube in it's life.

Oh yeah I don't go that long between cleaning unless I'm running varget or H4350. RL series powder needs cleaned often. Stuff is dirty as hell, and suppressor just makes it worse.

No- I meant that while they do kill thinner animals well, I don’t prefer their behavior for them.
So you are saying for the full range of velocity, elk size animals you are good with the 115 DTACs out of a 6cm (2900ish mv) with the potential for up to 6” of neck length? I guess I would think it would just get into the vitals at that point so it should be good.

At the same time, with some reports of big old bull elk being 5ft wide and 7inches of rib cage and hide, it would be about perfect to have a 6inch neck length.

Forms stated multiple times there are better bullets from the 6cm. The dtac likes more velocity for higher likelihood of upset. 6cm, go with a 112 Barnes, or 109/108 eldm.
