6.5CM suppressor recommendation

That’s already been covered in subsequent posts. I only recommend things i have used. Everything else, I try to share my opinion with sources.

The unspoken part of my post was that “max suppression” is overrated. The sonic crack is going to be roughly 125 dbA. Getting the noise of the gunshot quieter than that is chasing your tail for supersonic cartridges. If I have a lightweight, short suppressor that gets me 126-127 dbA with my chosen cartridge, it’s pretty silly to me to add weight and length to try to get it to 124-125. My opinion.

There’s a place for giant suppressors: on magnum rifles. If you are shooting a .300 WM, then you will definitely see a benefit from “more suppressor.” But on a 6.5 CM or similar, I don’t think you are getting real value from trying to get below about 125 dbA.

Also, on my 20” 6.5 CM, the AB Raptor 10 with 5” reflex is subjectively really freaking quiet. It’s effectively a 9”, 16 ounce suppressor in terms of volume and weight. I can’t imagine spending more money, length, or weight to make it even quieter with 6.5 CM (assuming it is even possible to make it measurably quieter).

No supersonic cartridge is “hearing safe” for more than a couple of shots per hour, no matter what suppressor you use. Even a sub-120 dbA rimfire suppressor with subsonic loads requires hearing protection for an extended range session. Spending an hour shooting .22 subs is like being at a rock concert for an hour.

Everyone has different ideas or preferences I guess. I’ll take the quieter suppressor over saving a few ounces and length

CGS gets little to no love on rokslide. I’ve got a Hyperion and just got a Hyperion K. I’ve used the Hyperion on 6.5 PRC, 6.5 CM, 6mm ARC and 5.56. Bolt guns and Gas guns. I love mine. The K is not noticeably different to me from the full size. It’s quiet enough that our shot timer doesn’t register the shots unless held next to the muzzle on my 5.56 AR.

I’ve been wondering how the S and K compare to the L. Any personal experience with that?

I do not, but from OC’s specs the S and K are louder with the K barely being under 140.

Update regarding my search:
I'm still considering the Ultra 9 6.5, and I've now included the LPM Mach-L as a strong consideration.
Both seem like great options. I'm wondering if the the dedicated 6.5 bore of the Ultra 9 surpasses performance of the Mach-L in .30
Although, LPM does offer a 6.5 end cap for the Mach-L that's supposed to achieve a slight increase in muzzle suppression.
I haven't read anything negative about either suppressor, but it does seem like the people that have the
Mach-L truly rave about the performance, whereas the Ultra 9 owners are happy but not completely amazed.

From what I’ve read, bore size importance increases as the suppressor length decreases. On an L length suppressor it may not be too important, and an end cap switch, even less so.

I am not aware of hard data on this phenomenon. I believe Bauer precision has a video on YouTube where they shoot various L suppressors, one of which has a 6.5 bore.

I know the horse is dead, but I'm looking for recommendations on a 6.5CM can.
Priorities are:
Max decibel reduction
Minimal or no "First Round Pop".

Not worried about size, weight or caliber versatility. I'd like to keep it under $1500 if possible but I'll consider higher priced options.
Current considerations are Ultra 9 and Hyperion.

I've seen what PewScience has reviewed but the tests are a few years old now, and I know there have been some updates to the Ultra 9. Unsure about the Hyperion- While the Hyperion won in PewScience testing, some say the Ultra 9 .264 is quieter than the Hyperion in .30... I had been warned about falling down the rabbit hole...but here we are.

Is there a clear cut winner for my desired characteristics?

I have been using my DD Enticer L Ti on 6.5 and its pretty impressive how quite it is for a budget can. Not saying I recommend it but you can easily shoot without hearing pro. And if you looking to save a little weight the have a S version as well. Plus there is a plethora of other calibers you can shoot through it

I have a 6.5 Ultra 9 for both a 6.5 CM and PRC. I love it. I am a TBAC guy though and dont have a lot of experience with others. I also have an Ultra 7 30cal and a takedown 22.

I am a TBAC guy, but not on purpose, I *have* owned a ton of suppressors from other companies. Many of which now sit at the bottom of my safe. TBAC is the one brand that stays in rotation, despite the fact that they are expensive and hard to find in stock, even when you buy online.

That said: there are tons of great choices and it's tough to go wrong these days.

I own an Ultra 7 in 6.5 and a few Ultra 9's in 30 cal. On my 6.5mm creed host, the 6.5 Ultra 7 is almost as quiet as a 30 cal Ultra 9. The size of the hole def makes a difference.

My Magnus is crazy quiet but it's also just huge.

if you're worried about pissing off your neighbors with shooting, the angle of shot direction will make way more difference in noise than the diff between any of the suppressors you are talking about.

If you're worried about your hearing, all the suppressors you're considering will dampen the muzzle blast to the point where the supersonic crack is about as loud. But that crack will eat your hearing up eventually, too.

What barrel length are you running and what is the barrel contour? Very skinny barrels and 9" suppressors don't always make love very well.

It’s a 22” barrel.
Rough estimates of size.
- Barrel Diameter at base of barrel - 1.153
- Barrel Diameter at middle of barrel - .760
- Barrel Diameter at muzzle (just before threads) - .730
I’m not sure what would be considered a full-on bull barrel but it’s thicker bigger than a regular barrel.
