Ill be getting some 150 SMKs next week and cant wait to do some load development. I have the seekins havak in a 6.5PRC. The action smooths out after some use. It wasn’t the best when i bought it but its much better now, as others have noted who have one.

Picked up an extra box of Hornady 143 Eldx pro ammo and went to the farm.
Last week I got to shoot 6 rounds just getting used to the rifle and getting close at 100 yards.
Cleaned the barrel and started again yesterday.
Thru the chrono the first three shots were,2873, 2867, 2904.
Not really any kind of comparison just needed the brass and having fun with a new rifle.

Used 2880 as an average fps point for the Bullet Flight App.

Got on paper, shot a three shot group which showed that the rifle has lots of promise.

I had the Sightron s tac scope laying around so used it for the test but I may try my Swarovski x5i again if I get to hunt deer with it.

Dialed up and smacked the top of my 350 yard plate on the first shot.In the 7 mph wind. left and right were fine.Adjusted the elevation and got the
bullets hitting mostly center. Sat a buddy down behind the rifle and on his first shot he hit th plate.
I then dialed up for 550 and hit the plate on that shot. My friend then fired and made the longest hit on a target he has ever attempted.
He is hooked and were are now shopping for a 6.5 rifle of some type for him.

We finished off the factory ammo nice and slow shooting at various targets scattered across a soybean stubble field.

Long story short, Not a real expensive rifle that is shooting well. Have the brass to see for myself if 150's will stabilize in a 8 twist.
Will know that by the end of the week.I have several popular powders and many proven bullets to try,but will go straight to RL26.

From the looks of the Ryan Avery thread on whacking Elk with a PRC the 147M bullets will make a great back up plan.

Potential for a very accurate hunting rifle.
After adjusting the crosshairs to the square I went semi-long.Then semi-longer.

147 eldm, 20 off. 338 box.

Information only for any one thinking about trying this.

Factory tikka factory wsm magazine is too short.
The long action mag is long enough but would modification to cycle that I think would destroy the mags integrity.

The new metal factory replacements might work( with modification)

but I am going to continue in this direction. This mag holds 6 rounds and feeds without issues.

Thanks for the pics/info! I might have missed this somewhere, but what bottom metal are you running?

Sodbuster is that a factory load? What is the coal? I’m thinking about building a prc off a sa rem 700 but concerned about length of rounds fitting in an acics mag.

cody, the 150 grain load is mine and at 20 off the lands the length is 3.067
the 147m load 20 off is 2.984 in total length.
Your rifle may vary and you could always drop down in bullet weight and shorten up things a little.

This is a MDT magazine at 3.715 but they have a 30-06 at 3.560 internal.

A thought though, the case head is larger than the 300 win or 06. That is why I went with the 338lm box. Plenty of head sticking up to get picked up and moved straight forward.

Figured since I was taking the time might as well cover the bases.
The sightron scope was ok, few things I did not like about it,
So I had a Swarovski laying around that had been checked out and repaired by the factory,
When i used it last year, it dialed great so I stuck it on tonight.

If loads won’t shoot it is not the equipments fault.

We’ve just released our Extended M5 bottom metal for Rem 700 style actions that allows OAL 2.95” when using AICS mags with no binder plate such as accurate mag’s 300 WSM magazine . Our design shares the same footprint/inlet of standhard M5 but we shifted the mag well back 0.100” (patent pending) to allow reliable magazine feeding without having to machine/notch the feed ramp in custom actions (rem 700 does require trimming bolt stop and a Wyatt’s cut on posterior end of receiver but no mod of feed ramp). Feeds very smoothly as the change in geometry allows a more favorable angle for the round to enter feed ramp/chamber as the bolt strips the rounds from the mag.

Thanks for the update Red.
Your help with the 300 WSM long action project streamlined right into this PRC rifle.

150 grain Sierra bullet at 3050 FPS average.100 yards back to back to back.

1:8 handles them pretty well.

Quickload recipe had too much pressure for me.
I backed off and stopped at 3050 fps average.

Punched in the numbers to bullet Flight. Hit the 350 plate first shot.
Went to 550 yards and shot just a hair high, two clicks down and I was in the meaty part of the plate.

I have enough ammo to try it out on a deer next weekend.
