I reckon I shoulda measured the box before I bolted it together, but there is plenty of room for the factory 147's. I'll measure whenever I take it apart again.

Thanks, thinking about one for my son and looking at options.

Sauer chambers in the 6.5 PRC. Anyone have experience with their rifles?

My Dad has had a Sauer 200 in 30-06 for 30 years and it is still his go-to gun. I have never picked up another gun that has balanced as well as that Sauer. It just comes up perfectly and sits dead still, offhand shooting is a dream. Bolt is super smooth as well. Overall it is just a beautiful piece of craftsmanship.

My brother has a newer Sauer 202 synthetic stock in.270 and it balances well and is a comfortable gun to shoulder. However, it is not like my Dad's.

Sauer makes many different models and many different price ranges so you have to see what works for you. They also make amazing shotguns.

Looks like a long action tikka is a popular gun to convert to the 6.5 PRC. I have a Sako A7 300win, nearly identical to Tikka, that I just ordered a 6.5 barrel for to convert to 6.5 PRC. Should be an interesting gun!

Is the 300 the bolt face size needed to rebarrel to the 6.5 PRC? Would you be able to use the factory stock still with a Tikka rebarrel?

A magnum bolt face is what you need so yes, a 300 will work and yes, you can still use the factory stock. I know some guys have issues with the tikka stocks but I ain't never had any problems.

Would a Rem model seven In 300SAUM be a good option to rebarrel to 6.5 PRC, have a barreled action laying in the safe and was wondering if it could be done without to much fuss

Add a 6.5 prc barrel and you would be good to go.

Like mentioned, it has the right bolt face to work. Look into the overall length your magazine choice will accept first because there aren’t as many options for the M7 as the 700s and factory 6.5PRC ammo is rather long.

Looks like the mag box not big enough to accommodate the 6.5

I know there is a PTG aics bottom metal option that would allow wsm mags with 2.95” of space but that kind of defeats the whole intention of m7s light/compact nature imo.

I'm running a 6.5 GAP 4S on a model Seven action. Installed a Wyatt's box magazine and factory bottom metal. Works fine so I'd sure think a 6.5PRC would work. I load my own so maybe my cartridge length is less than 6.5 PRC factory ammo?
